My love shared George with me the first winter after we began dating in 2002 and December became our opening present playlist every Christmas since. Over the years we watched George perform in concert several times, both together and separately. One year I saw him perform in Montana and I made my partner jealous because I got to shake George's hand after the concert. When George didn't perform for a while after that- my love teased me and said that I'd been too excited with my handshake and must have squeezed George's hand so hard that he couldn't play. It was our joke for years. During our last days together in the hospital, George played constantly on my husband's phone. He was the balm to our aching hearts. This song, which I hadn't heard before, played on my phone a few weeks after he died and it felt like my love was still sharing. I'm grateful to George for the gift of his talent and for music that brought us together.

Gracias, George 🙏🏽🕊️🥺🕯️

I had no idea he was so sick. Our children were born in the 90's with his music playing in the background, and they grew up listening to his piano. We loved him. Rest in Peace 💔

Half of my childhood was filled with your musics. Grown by your musics, and now feels like I lost the field where I supposed to stand on. “Living without you” was the best piece among your pieces for me, and now it truly gives me a feeling what the title says. Rest In Peace, my only true musician.

Saw him live in concert at the University of Rhode Island about 25 year ago. That concert changed me forever. I love to shut the whole world out and feel every note and emotion in music now. He taught me that through his incredible talent. He will always and forever be one of my VERY favorite artists of all time.

This one feels like an old friend, familiar and sure...like a knowing between us...with a shrug and a wink, a hug and trickling tears.

I just learned that Mr Winston passed away last year on June 4th. he was a mentor to me. I saw him at the Majestic, in 1992 and it was one of my top 5 performances... of over 500 in my lifetime. I learned so much from him. he introduced me to Professor Longhair to modern contemporary masters. how to be a good human being. and if the truth of your life is broken down into 2 dharmas, meanings 1) the profoundness of your experience 2) the impact of your activity. well, there you go. the truth of his life. do good, do great things. thank you for the gifts sir.
