Added performance benefit = more noise from chassis. I once tried poly bushes on my chassis and it made car terrible with low profile tires. No wonder manufacturers not use them.. Good video though.

Nice job, did the exact same job on my e87 last year, I certainly noticed better and smoother throttle response with the new polybushes fitted. Good luck getting the diff back in, it’s a bit of a nightmare job with the polybushes as they seem to make there less room to wiggle the diff around. You will find it a lot easier with 2 people.

It wasn't mentioned in the video, but the large supplied washer goes on the bolt head side or nut side, opposite the differential. So, the differential mounts right up against the new bushing as it is shown in the video.

Good video George. With the two bolts removed from the front bushes can the diff be rotated enough to remove and replace the bushes and fit poly units, i.e. without having to remove the diff ? I won't need to replace the diff rear bush - I've got another solution for that. Thanks.
@GeorgeAusters3 жыл бұрын
Possibly but it might make access a bit difficult
@rtd9153Ай бұрын
I know this is years later but the answer is yes. I'm in the process of replacing the ones on our 2007 530xi and upon removing the two bolts from the rear front bushings, you can easily lower the differential enough to remove the bushings.

As a very long term BMW technician ie from 1977 onwards I have found that BMW had built what I would call an almost perfect car in the E30 models which in my opinion were almost perfect but from there onwards most things have gone downhill. I consider the E36 to be a disaster. Then we move onto the E34 Five series, Dear oh dear compared to the E28 5 series. Then the problems with the plastic components on the cooling system on the E38 7 series. What a disaster with the three heater matrix plastic pipes which come through the bulkhead or fire wall. And join onto the water pipes on the engine. BMW should have been forced to pay to replace these awful items. Don’t get me wrong as I love BMW’s but they keep on bringing out new models and engines and then unleash problem after problem. Swirl flaps on Diesels engines are a good example. A very good idea but not reliable.
@Handle-Unavailable-x Жыл бұрын
What wrong with the E36 compare to the E30. I drove mine into a lake/ditch, the whole motor was pretty much Submerged into water. I pulled it out and the same day got it running again. Never had any issues. So that why i want to know why is it worse then E30. In mine opinion is started to go down hill after the E46.

Push the rear bushing out from rear to front …new one installs same way u removed it …for the front 2 bushings you push them out same like this video but install is different…the side of the bush with the lip has to go the other way …or you will put all the load on the bolt and it will snap …that part of the video is wrong for sure …
