Yeah, I had perfect intonation on the bari, so it's kinda hard to listen to it in most songs that butcher it, and while this guy isn't great when he's still and slow like at the end, I probably couldn't sound as good while moving. And two more things people don't point out, while moving that much, your mouth, and your reed, is getting dry, and it'll make it sound worse and is harder to control. Second, the fact he can hold the thing up while moving like that obviously takes a lot of practice. He's holding the whole thing up with his right hand most the time. The neckstrap helps but not for tone.

@MD-zo7cl I dont know if youve ever seen drumset music before, but overwhelmingly its literally just a scribbled line on each beat which indicates "Improvise." Usually the only noted parts are ritards or syncopated sections. Any jazz drummer knows this very well, its quite rare for there to be actual defined written pieces for drumset. Orchestral percussion is a whole other story, and who knows maybe this percussionist got lucky, but it isn't what happens normally.

Legendary. Much respect- only with a lifetime of practice can a Person match this. I have learned a LOT of instruments and I did attempt to learn the Sax- I got okayish but it was a bit much for Me, definitely the hardest instrument I've tried. *For context: Violin, Cello, Bass (Big Cello), Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, French Horn, Trombone, Trumpet, Baritone, Guitar, Piano/Keyboard, spun records, used a whole plethora of MIDI devices and software with newer stuff that fall into the spinning records Category, plus the Sax and that's just off the top of my head, I know I'm missing a few. I have also composed many Songs, which is my favorite thing to do Music-wise. The Sax though, it requires another level of Skill compared to all the other instruments I've played. I ended up moving to Game Design/Remodeling/Construction which I did for almost 20 Years and now I'm into CNC machines/3d Printers/Lasers since the Construction stuff kinda broke my Body. I hunger for knowledge! I do miss Music a lot though, Time is the true enemy, otherwise I'd still be Producing/Mixing (mostly EDM)!

To anyone not familiar with wind instruments, there's something called continuous breathing. Meaning that this saxophone player is breathing through his nose while playing. Which is highly impressive, even for skilled players. A trumpet named Ibrahim Maalouf can do it too but not like that
@toothcruncher Жыл бұрын
wait, is that even physiologically possible? like, breathing out while breathing in? bc if so it’s news to me 😅 or do you just mean taking super short breaths in while still having your mouth on the mouthpiece, training your breath, stuff like that? im just a little confused!!
@travisford5924 Жыл бұрын
@@toothcruncher The proper term is "circular breathing" which is done by holding air in the cheeks and pushing it out with your cheek muscles while quickly taking a breath in through your nose. Classically trainer saxophonist as well. There are some interesting techniques here but IMO, those large jumps from high to low aren’t super hard on a bari. I mostly see it as gimmicky. He’s got a couple licks but for me they get old quick. And he dances around while doing it and people respond. He may be a very good player, but you can’t tell from this necessarily. I know I sound like sour grapes but I honestly find it repetitive and boring.
@aarons3014 Жыл бұрын
@@fowlplayoutdoors68 I hear you , but he's supported himself for years as a working musician, and it's hard for me to criticize anyone who's done that, especially since the pandemic. He originally made a living by busking, and had to develop a style that would catch the attention of people who were busy and not musically educated. And he's opened doors with that, including playing on stage with Beyonce at least once. Is he the Tarrega of saxophone? No. Is he making human-created acoustic music cool in the eyes of the public? Yes.
