Merry Christmas Everyone! 🎄🎅❄️🎹 It's not really a usual Christmas song, but one of my favourite 'non-classical pieces'. I recorded this in Japan at the amazing Hyogo performing Arts Centre. This version is based on Sakamoto's 2009 performance of this piece for Decca records (not the original version).

A magical Christmas present, one of my favorite pieces of music played by my favorite pianist. I was a projectionist when the film first came out and used to rush out into the auditorium every night as soon as I'd got the film running just to catch this piece in it's full glory. Nice one George.

Often I'm amazed by concert pianists for playing things that are technically far, far above my level. I can technically play this piece, but today I'm amazed by how much subtle expression and feelings you are able to put into it that us ordinary folks couldn't hope to match.
