He did not murder them for their money. His final victim was the only one of an estimated 250 victims in which he attempted to forge a will. It was why he was caught. He spent decades killing hundreds of people just for the sake of killing them.

@@streamsofconsciousness8651 he probably got away with it numerous times, if it hadn't been for the old lady's daughter and her being a legal secretary and very thorough, executors of the wills would be none-the-wiser.
@streamsofconsciousness86515 жыл бұрын
Maurice Upton there was a full public enquiry into him and his victims which found no evidence of any financial motive for his crimes. No other families or executors reported that victims had made him beneficiaries of their wills. He was a very bad person but we don’t need to imagine reasons that dont exist

And dumber again using diamorphine.. surely he'd know that that stays in the system for a long time. Apparently if he had of used something like insulin instead, there would be no traces of it in the body.

Good that this report has been preserved. HOW could a drug addict be allowed to set up a GP practice? Someone allowed a deranged person to be elevated to a position where he had the power over life and death. Beyond belief that such a thing could happen. Why did no one else follow him into prison?

Drug addicts are not immediately psychotic serial killers. That's like saying all people who drink too much are immediately abusive tank-top-creaming wifebeaters.

@@averageillegalmemesdealer Yes, but in the mid-1970s, he was convicted on multiple counts of forging prescriptions to feed his pethodine addiction. He was dishonest, untrustworthy and should have been struck off even before he had chance to start killing his patients.

There is a doctor death in every area where there is a GP. There was a doctor in the town over from us nicknamed doctor death, that is because we know that person and we think that 'doctor deaths' are rare, they are not, they are accidental deaths caused by mistakes and do not represent REAL doctor deaths (Harold Shipman). The medicine industry is very complicated, because of this, doctors have to be immune to some deaths. There could be two different conditions with very similar/identical symptoms, only to find later that the doctor gave them the wrong drug and ended up killing that person. It happens. You can find for the UK statistics of how many people die by GPs per county, some are in the double figures (not double figures per GP, just per county which will hold many GPs). It is the unusually high ones that will be investigated. People also die all the times in hospitals because of the same issues, and even in the operating theater when a surgeon makes a mistake. It has taken thousands of years to get to where we are today in the medicine department, and there is so much that we still do not know, so the occasional accidental death is to be expected.
