✿ The Mind Illuminated: amzn.to/3uNtv0z (affiliate link)
In this video, I talk about how meditation changed my life as a creator and human. I share a bit about my backstory and how I got introduced to meditation, and how I finally overcame some of my pre-conceived notions that prevented me from trying it in the first place. I share what meditation really is, and the benefits that I've experienced. My intention in this video is to be your "Chad Caruso" - the person who inspires you to meditate, because it has been such a helpful practice in my life. It had truly bloomed into a more beautiful flower than I could have imagined when I started.

When I meditate I feel good and happy all day! I've been meditating almost everyday during one year. And you summarized meditation very well! Thanks from Brazil.

One of the better videos I've watched about meditation. Thank you very much. There is a guy called Vinnie Tollman, who had a NDE, in which he was told that being authentic is the most important thing in (his) life. Greetings from Germany

Really really amazing video. I’ve read 2 books regarding meditation but every time I’ve tried I felt so intimidated by having to clear my mind when it’s so filled with stress and craziness just like you.

Thank you for posting this. It is so interesting to hear about your experiences of meditation. Meditation is such a powerful thing. It works. It takes practice but it gets easier over time. You mentioned 10 minutes of mediation, but I have found I need longer than that to feel the effects. I think it is probably a personal thing. I've been practicing meditation for some time and for me personally I find that it only starts to "kick in" after 10 to 15 minutes. When I say "kick in", I mean that is about the time I feel it is starting to work. At that point I feel a sense of bliss washing over me as I breath out, almost like the washing over the body feeling that I have felt from smoking weed, and I see images behind my closed eyes. The images are like swirling colours or sometimes an eye shaped white light, and those images sometimes form a dreamlike movie that appears real. Up until that point I don't think the meditation is doing anything useful, and in my experience it's only after those effects kick in that the magic begins. After that I would recommend another 10 minutes at least, so 25-30 minutes minimum I'd say, otherwise I find it to be a waste of time. If it's working, the effect can be easily measured. My heart rate will typically drop from about 65 down to about 45, which is about same rate as when I am sleeping. Just wear a monitor and you will see. That's my experience anyway. For all I know, everyone else might have a totally different experience. The only thing I am certain of is that meditation works. It is the most important thing I have discovered in my life so far.

I would describe meditation using the words "learning to empty the mind of all content at will". And the way one does that is to focus intensely on an object. While 100% of your attention is on breath, there can be no thinking, and the number of thoughts that are suggested/come up in the thinking mind, get less and less and less. And then you become aware of emptiness itself, the space in-between thoughts, or the silence which is under all noise in the physical world. And when the connection to this silence/void space is strong, there is no thinking unless you decide to. So one could also say "Its learning to control how much thinking goes on, and what the thinking mind does". And while having focus on the underlying silence which is all around you (Yoda references Buddhism when he says "You must feel the force, around you), you feel quite blissful at times. This is my experience, and it is congruent with that of others.
