I've sung this many times, and have heard just about every recording ever made. No one comes close to Thill's elegance, beauty of tone, sustaining of the line, color, rubato . . . everything here is a lesson in perfection. It's literally sigh inducing. Merci Georges!

Exceptional! ... BTW, this was available (and I have it) on a CD reissue, by HAFG/Hamburg Archive for Vocal Arts, Volume 8, and it's the very, LAST track. That Volume 8 also includes, Bruneau, Caccini, Messager, Rabaud, Tosti, plus Gounod, Lehar and Schubert.

Bellissima! It is in fact composed by Marcello, the aria is actually titled "Quella Fiamme Che M'accende" although many Italian arias end up being called by the first line of lyrics, (for easier identification) instead of by the title given to them by the composer.

Превосходное исполнение. Чудный тембр, осмысленность как результат тщательной работы над этой не самой простой арией, чаще исполняемой женскими голосами. Признаюсь, я пытался расслушать "обезглавленность", о которой писал Лаури-Вольпи применительно к Тилю, взявшемуся за итальянский репертуар, но ничего похожего не обнаружил. Что до акцента, то согласен с кем-то из коллег по комментам, что многие итальянские певцы грешат во французском гораздо больше - см. хотя бы великолепное, но небезупречное в упомянутом отношении исполнение М. Баттистини "Вечера" Гуно/Ламартина. Кстати, поющих по-русски без акцента иностранных певцов найти вообще непросто.

In this beautiful Italian "aria antica", of whatever authorship, one can hear the beautiful schooling that Thill received from Fernando De Lucia. He phrases with the same tenderness and poetic freedom. And his Italian is as gorgeous as his French!

A beautiful voice no doubt but at times his accent makes some of the lyrics ezpecially in around the 2 min mark sound french but then it maybe just the recording either way beautifully sung
