The hall construction company in germany said always at first a small foundation all around the shed mostly 30 inches deep . Than the concrete floor and than installed they the hall . We take only the grass layer away only 4 inches . Than a little bit sand on the uneven ground . than level in with a 16 feet steel beam which hangs on 2 changes on a little tractor to planning the floor . Than embrassed we foil from silage . Nice greetings from Bert from north west germany !

Good Work George and everyone. I bet you were really wishing to have a go on the small JCB mini digger? I was thinking though, that when the cement truck was reversing in and out onto the newly smoothed down hardcore. It seemed a s shame as it was crewing up the flattened hardcore. Maybe it been better to have laid the hardcore a bit at a time letting the cement mixer truck drive on the bare ground then move back such that the hardcore was done after the truck been on the ground so not to crew up the hardcore? Makes me wonder if a full sized JCB Back Hoe digger would have dig up and leveled the base quicker than the mini one! Still great work all. Something I found out about concrete, it in fact takes 120 years for the chemical part of it to go fully set. even though it's state of setting from liquid to solid is in a couple of days.

Satisfying to see this build. But a question, why no netting in the concrete? In our latest build we have a concrete floor of 20cm thick with a 8mm reinforcing net in it. Is this not common in the UK? it gives the concrete more flex/strength they say here in the netherlands.

Hi George Can you please tell me what slump that concrete was ? Thanks very much
@JonDingle3 жыл бұрын
@@donaldtriumph1682 It looks more to me, around or just over 100. The super plasticizer in the mix would make it creep quite a way when the cone is lifted off the gauge. But l could be wrong.
@JonDingle3 жыл бұрын
@@donaldtriumph1682 That depends on the price. I was quoted a price of £1.00per litre based on a delivery of 1,000litres of liquid PCE two years ago by major a supplier of liquid PCE so not exactly hugely expensive given the amount of slump it can give. And concrete companies will buy more than a 1,000 litres in during the course of a year so no doubt get it even cheaper. My estimate of 100mm or slightly is between 25-50% more than yours, so may not mean a huge increase in costs? As you may or may not know? PCE's are also water reducing agents this makes the concrete stronger and of better quality. Adding too much water to keep costs down doesn't work. It makes the concrete weaker and therefore at risk of failure which would result in doing the job again and l can assure you, no farmer in the world would want to replace a concrete floor again.

@@billupstateny9151 so where the concrete wagons sinking in the formation will not induce tensile movement into the slab? Yeah it will compress itself to dust!
@billupstateny91513 жыл бұрын
@@starsailorer The slab will NOT induce the concentrated load of the truck wheel. No tensile strength required. More slump than necessary, increases workability, but @ the price of more shrinkage. Wire mesh is overrated, does not prevent cracking, only reduces seperation.
