GREAT comment....the final score was not entirely indicative of what Oregon brought to the table in that game because they did a lot of things on both sides of the ball that made me think to myself a couple of times, "man these guys are going to be pretty good"....plus, Malachi Starks and Chris Smith only play for one team, so if you take away the efforts of those two guys alone, there's 10-14 more points to be found, in all probability......and when you are trying to tackle an athletic 6'7 270 TE and a WR that is both lightening quick _and_ runs a 4.3, you will have a ton of missed tackles, regardless of who plays on your D, so don't get to carried away with the narratives Ducks fans, you guys will be quite alright Trust me, this comment will age _extremely_ well

I grew up in the SE where I played football for 11 years, then refereed for 13 years. I now live in the PNW where I noticed something that really hurts the PAC 12. In the NW boys PLAY football, in the SE boys LIVE football. In the NW, the boys think about football only during football season, in the SE the boys think about football year-round and workout most of the year to be ready for the fall. Dan Lanning knows this and he'll recruit accordingly. If Oregon gives him time, he'll make something of that team.

Next week you will probably demolish the next team. Alabama kicked our ass last year, and what did we do? We kicked their ass two weeks later. For the National Championship! You have a good Cisco and so you will get better players. We draft multiple 5 star, and like.... A bunch of four star players every year. Your goal will get you some better players. New coach, new scheme, alot of young players vs the reigning national champion who have been able to recruit players for years at the highest level with returning starters and who have probably 20 guys who will go pro. I'm not worried about it. Many teams struggle on the first game. I kind of had a hunch it was going to go this way... Don't forget we pretty much overhauled the program in the last 6 months too. I remember a year, I think it was 08 or 09 where Oregon had a down year in the new Chip Kelly scheme and then clicked on all cylinders at the end of the season and destroyed Oregon State, ruining their shot at a Rose Bowl (that was when OSU had the Rodgers Brothers). After that, the Oregon team became something special... Give it time. Oregon probably had the toughest game to start the year considering the circumstaces surrounding the program after the MC fallout.
