Georgia fans go wild as team reach Euros for first time: 'Our dream has come true'

Georgian football fans took to the streets of Tbilisi to celebrate their qualification for Euro 2024.

Thousands of people thronged the city, waving Georgian flags and chanting to celebrate their victory over Greece. Georgia will make their major tournament debut at Euro 2024 after beating Greece 4-2 in a penalty shootout. It had been a tense and testy 0-0 draw in a raucous atmosphere in Tbilisi. The Georgian team joined the celebrations in the center of Tbilisi, where they took the stage and thanked the fans for their support.

I agree, the old 16 team format was much more competitive and difficult to qualify for the knockout round. However.....I like the 24 team format because it also gives 4 spots to wild cards which make the first round of the group stage exciting to the end. If you lost your first two matches in the 16 team format, you were pretty well eliminated. But with the 24 team format, you could loose your first two matches and still have a chance to qualify for the next round if you win your last group match.
