I learned that the hard way when I parked my semi in the driveway. They called the cops the same day smh. Now I live free of these Karen’s in a no HOA community

I took an HOA to court over 30 years ago. They were fighting zoning I had already in place. I won the case because Cherokee county judge ruled it unconstitutional by depriving citizens highest and best use. 😊

My hoa refuses to show us financial statements. If you pursue them on it you get swift retaliation and are labeled a troublemaker so oriole too scared to speak up now . Even had to file an investigation with the police .. GA needs to do more to protect residents

I don't mind having some rules to keep the neighborhood nice and clean. When the rules are an over reach, being able to foreclose etc etc, that's when I have a problem. Once board members are gone and they bring in an outside company, here comes the excessive fines. How else would that company get paid. HOA's should be made up of people that live in the community for the community with no outside influence.

More on that board (because that’s my neighborhood): they refused to hold meetings for a couple years, the president was the only board member for a while, then she appointed the others instead of having an election to fill seats. Our budget has been the same for years and has included things we simply do not have, but when asked about those, they stopped responding to my emails altogether. That’s the lack of communication. The lack of participation? Meetings were held across town at the most inconvenient of times. Also, the president harassed people and gave the most violations to my non-white neighbors. Also funny but I can’t find proof of it anymore. They once cited me for a refrigerator in my driveway. It was my car.

@antiformsora - That one lady interviewed said she hasn't heard back from the Property Manager Co. You might Not have one; my HOA doesn't ... Red Flag! Our Illegitimate & Corrupt HOA Board Are the "property mgrs". NOBODY is overseeing them. They are breaking All kinds of Laws. We can't get rid of them. Cherokee County Ga. District Attorney has done Nothing so far! I'm following up! Board Election FRAUD since 2016. Board Refuses to show us Financials; Invoices; Vendors List, Member list, ETC. All Illegal. Ask for Proof of All Expenses & verify. Ask if the Assn. is filing Taxes! Ga. Law says Board has 5 (maybe 10 days) to respond With proof of the above, or They get Fines. I doubt she has records to do it! Do you have a Treasurer?? Send the Board a Certified letter demanding it All. Be specific. They can supposedly be Fined, per Each denial, to ALL request. You can ask for 3 years back -That's Ga. Law! Police can go back 4 Years for FRAUD. You can also Sue your president for Violation Fiduciary duties - Lying to y'all, Etc. This is a business. They have to follow Laws. If there is Only one person (or a group a "friends" appointed), that's a HUGE RED FLAG. Check your covenants. They have to have meetings, & Board Minutes Must be kept (another Violation). There has to be 3-5 Board member's/positions. All elected & Quarum met. I can't remember the percentage, but it's Over 50%, I think. Georgia is Backaswards on their Laws. Shame on Gov. Kemp for Ignoring the people of Georgia. There have been rally's on the capital steps. He's doing NOTHING. I've been Gang Stalked; Harassed; ostracized ETC, for trying to get the word out to our homeowner's. We've had about 75% turnover in here! At least your Neighbor's have come together!! I'm about to try to get my HOA exposed on the News & Social Media. It's coming !! What County are you in? Who's your HOA Attorney? Write a letter to the HOA attorney, "from the Association/Community of people", Explaining Everything that's going on & what the board is/isn't doing, after you've been Denied/Ignored on what I'm saying to ask for (you will be - lol)! They should represent You; the Assn. *** Remember this: Whatever B.S. the president tells you ... HOA'S fall UNDER Federal, then State, then Local (County), then Corporate Laws. It doesn't matter what the Cov/bylaws say. They are NOT Above Any of them. Tell your neighbors this, to Stop the Harassment. Our HOA Attorney didn't even know that. If y'all can stick together, draft a letter, Signed by as Many homeowner's as you can get. Send it Certified to your HOA Attorney. Explain what's been going on & demand financials, Etc. Actually, y'all can Remove the president with enough "votes". You've got this!! I''m sorry if I got repetitive!! That was Long!

Here's another perspective. The fines are there to make homeowners comply. To give teeth to the rules. You don't get to make your own decisions, which affect other's homes in the area, and flaunt off your fines. I'd file for a lien on the property so if they tried to sell, the HOA would get paid.

I've been the president of two HOA's, and the only reason I ran for president was to keep some control freak from being at the helm. I'm also a Economist Adam major university here in the metroplex, and the growth of HOA's across the country represents the abdication of a government prime duty - establishment and enforcement of property rights

Not necessarily when you have lawyers involved and who transfer the garnishment of these homeowners cases to other counties and not informing the homeowners. Many homeowners are never informed that they are purchasing a property in an HOA. Educate yourself before making comments.

@dlouis1830 Baloney. When you close on a house/condo with a HOA you are given the by laws. I lived in a Condo Association in Bradenton FL for 10 years. I also had to pass a background check.

In GA, the Law IS NOT the same. It is an OPEN Door for realtors, builders and HOA members to do everything they want because no one oversight what they do with these homeowners. I forgot to mention how management companies are covered under the umbrella of CAI, the main organization who works closely with lawmakers to benefit their sponsors in GA and across the USA (management companies, attorneys and builders).@@jasoncrandall73

@@jasoncrandall73 It is not the same situation for GA. Realtor never disclose you are purchasing the house from an HOA because they know it does not sell very often due to issues like the ones from this news recording.

I live in an hoa and I love it. I used to think I wouldn't. But I do because it's great living in a place where you don't have to worry about your neighbors' neglect or trash or hideous paint color ruining the value of your home or just peace of mind. We never see an old couch sitting on the curb for weeks at a time or a discarded shoe in someone's overgrown lawn or a hastily abandoned bike in the middle of the street. And yes, we've gotten the notice that our mailbox needs painting or the trashcan wasn't brought in soon enough but really, as long as we pay our dues on times, follow neighborhood rules, which we do, everything's great. I don't get it really- if people don't like the fees, fines, whatever... don't live in a neighborhood with an hoa 🤷🏻♀️
