Cavanaugh, who runs the second leg, was Boling's team mate in high school. The third leg was run in this 2022 race by Ryan Willie who graduated. This year, 2023, Sumner, a freshman 800 meter performer runs the third leg. He does very well considering he's going a shorter distance than his optimum event. Elijah Godwin brings it home and he was the Champion in the 400m at the NCAA Indoor meet this year.

If the piton passing zone ends at the white line by the clock then if you examine the video at 1:34 you will notice that the 2nd and 3rd runner both have hold of the piton with the line between both and therefore the pass is late and Georgia should have been disqualified if that is the rule and the passing boundary assumed. The odd thing is I don't see a judge at that station to determine if an infraction exists. There are two at the start line and appear to be looking at the pass, but .....

You're correct.Bigots and morons are talking smack on Boling because Patterson bested him in the SEC final; but win, lose or DQ Boling's never punked out of a "let's get it on" racing moment like I think Patterson did on that opening leg Boling was spanking him on .Actually this is the first time in three seasons I've seen Boling legally finish an SEC 200m final as he DQ'ed at SEC's two consecutive years before this.I think this being his last scholastic year at UGA and probably last competitive NCAA year before he turns pro(he's only in his junior year eligibility wise because of the COVID phenomenon that clipped one of his years) ,the UGA coaching staff has a bit less point muling going on where he's concerned so that hopefully he doesn't peak again by April or May when there are big meets well after that.Back to that first leg of the SEC final 4×400m: Boling did a 45.1 or 2 and was smoking both Patterson of Florida and Lang of Arkansas but Patterson wasn't about to be handed a big fat slice of humble pie from Boling after he'd just won a 200 against him.
