I missed the part about joining the eu. Maybe the eu would be against it as they want to be the foreign influence that controls their media.

It's different. Georgia is controlled by Russian oligarchs. The law will no doubt be used and upgraded against people the new Georgia party (ruling party) do not like. The people of Georgia call it the russian law as the same thing was introduced in Russia in 2012 and basically turned it into the police state we all know and hate. The EU has given Georgia millions in aid and has actively helped it whilst Russia has invaded it multiple times in the last 24 years. Georgian people if given a referendum would join the EU.
