Sea lions are a bear offshoot. Still quite a ways from Canids

Pinnipeds are Carnivores, so fairly close to dogs. But they're really more closely related to mustelids. They do look like sea otters especially.

Notice the keeper behind the cage with a bucket of food! Zoos/aquariums will often acclimate their animals to containment by getting them to associate it with yummy treats. It helps reduce their stress and makes them much easier to transport or examine.

I’m personally not a fam of aquariums because of cruelty and whatnot but I can tell that you guys love the animals! You take such great care and as much as you handle them and get them used to humans you also allow them to be ‘wild’ in some ways, you let them do what they would do in the wild.
