Even then, in childhood, when no one taught us wrestling and we fought simply intuitively, we always understood that we had to take the "Georgian grip".. and in 90% of the throws we made precisely from this grip. Respect from Georgia

Hidayet Heydarov is the Azerbaijani judoka that has been having success with that Uki Otoshi from the Georgian grip. I learned the move by watching him. His teammate Rustam Orujov has pulled it off too. They are both -73 kg

Would love to see a video looking at different Judo grips/approaches (Georgian, Mongolian, etc) and how you'd approach them in a BJJ/old-school Judo rules context.

Thanks for video! I think one of the best Georgian grip is GADAULI, in JUDO is popular as like Khabareli grip ( obi tori gaeshi) , very beautiful and meanwhile very difficult to execute 👍🏻🇬🇪🥋

I want to say no it's not possible absolutely not but I defer to those who say they can. The reason I say no is because it's the cloth grip that slows them down right so they don't pass to your back. That doesn't mean you can't use those moves ... you can use all of them. But you wouldn't want your opponent in such a position dangerous. I'm unsure of others greater knowledge but in no gi that's no go for you but great for them so all of those moves become defensive when they hit their positional advantages you don't want but they do want. So you can't reliably slow them down without a belt or back cloth grip you don't want that position in no gi I think ... What about y'all? As far as reality most people have clothes especially pants but if they don't you're in trouble here. I hope the teacher answers I'm a spectator but I do grapple too. When you are in no gi that position is great for your opponent. The moves still work on your side but they have all the advantages on your legs and back. Slowing them down and breaking their posture HARD is why you Georgian. In no gi you give them too much you allow them too many superior throws and its pretty major. In cloth you are in a weird tie breaking posture a lot and denying successful back taking or leg takedowns allowing yours. Big big big ... big difference between gi and no gi. I think.

@@daveallen5342 I think so long as you keep control of the arm there is no back take threat.
@daveallen5342
@daveallen5342 3 жыл бұрын
@@buffdude4281 as soon as they posture they are behind. What's the fulcrum to break posture if there's no gi no cloth grip ... as their hips come in because there's no cloth grip .., plus let's say they don't get behind you they get in to your torso head low inside outside takedowns exist for any of those especially body lock and singles doubles picks crotch rocket ... In wrestling they can hip in at knee to ground level too they can do cutbacks and a lot. That's not to say there's a threat or not to the back. But once their head is behind your arm in it's penetration and position ... Sure. You have counters but they are "winning " People can do slide bys and duck unders if you touch their arm I'm not sure maybe you prevent that in your method.
