It's St. George's week in Victoria this week. It is definitely a different kind of celebration this year. I am taking this opportunity to share with you one of the most beloved Hymns composed by the late Mro Joe Vella and sung yearly during the sunday morning High Mass and at the begining of the eve Procession. I took the liberty to make my own humble adaptation to Harp and Cello.
I dedicate this piece to all my friends in the Laudate Pueri Choir but mainly to Maria Frendo George Frendo Antoinette Camilleri and Joy Frendo who have always sustained and encouraged me in my musical formation years and career.
This video will always be a living memory of all that this Basilica means to me personally, and it was a great moment for my Giorgio (my cello) to sing to his patron :) St. George have always been a pointer to Christ, nothing more nothing less.... and as for the opening image ... yes St. Cecilia (the most beautiful rendition of my saint in Gozo is also present in this Basilica)
Special thanks goes to Clive Pace for his usual impeccable filming and editing and to Cornerhouse Studios Luke Grech for the sound recording. Final Thanks goes to D Joseph Curmi Archpriest for giving me this oppotunity. I wish you and all the parishioners along with all the gozitans a blessed feast!
