Hi. I am such a horse racing fan, that I saw Secretariat race on New York, and after seeing The Movie, Phar Lap I set a goal of visiting his stomping grounds. I live in Argentina so it would be a very long trip half aroun the world. For one reason or other it took several years, but in 2019, after a whole trip planning, I arrived at Sydney October 17 and spent 5 days there and saw Yes Yes Yes a 3 year-old win the world richest sprint. From there I went to Canberra and stayed 3 day there visiting The National museu where I bought Phar Lap's' Plate and filmed the two Phar Laps videos and took a whole bunch of pictures, specially those of the Red Terror. Finally Iwent to Victoria and of course, to Flemington to watch the race that stops the Nation. It was an splendid and marvelous 23 days journey, to me worth the trip of a lifetme

That sounds like a great trip. Lucky to have seen Secretariat race. One day you will have to make it to New Zealand and Phar Lap's birth place. Many fine race horses have come from here. Thanks for commenting.

Wow! That horse has quite a legacy in both country and the geocaching community.

I think he has stuck in peoples collective memory as he often came from behind to win. It gave people hope during the great depression. Most modern kiwis have heard the name even if they don't know a lot about him.

The similarities between him and Secretariat are amazing. Extra large heart. Big Red. Come from behind extra speed at the end of a race.
