@nomputwaku, it can be confusing. In fact. I’ve seen a number of members and financial advisors make mistakes with this calculation. The R550 000 tax free amount is already taken into account. The calculation must be done as SARS would do it otherwise you would assume you would pay less tax only to find out that you have to pay in much more in reality
