Why was there a data bridge just before the 3 pot pension fund system came out. So now no one can request their amount of pension funds before the time.

As I understand that even if you resign at the age of 40 years the pension fund still keeps a portion of your pension until the age of 55, 60 or 65 . Am I correct or am I missing something.......

@Lee, quite right! If you want to resign, you can only invest for income from age 55 onwards

If you resign after implementation of the pot system you can transfer the vested pot to a private fund, tax free, and then exercise a choice on gratuity (of up to one third), in which case the Retirement Lump sum tax free benefit of R550k still apply, correct?

@Raphael, the benefits are calculated based on formulas, not market performance. Your value will increase as your salary and years of service increase… unless GEPF changes the formula… again

What happens to that money that is being kept behind by the government pension fund. What is it invested in and what interest rate do you get. Why is the government pension fund keeping some of the pension fund money .....if you resign......untill the age of 55, 60 or 65 years or when you die. Sorry I really don't understand why the soldiers pension fund money must stay in the fund...even when they have resigned. Does the private sector give their employees all their pension fund money back should they resign .......
