It is understandable that we all have chosen sides in this political contest. But Bitok is WRONG and I agree with Prof. 1. There is no power that will be given to anybody, you have to fight for it. 2. It is shameful that he views Raila and Karua basically campaigning on the platform that they fought for the second liberation. I have not heard anywhere Raila campaigning that they fought for our freedom and rights and so they should be rewarded. What Prof Manyora says is true, when looking at the person you are to vote for, there are.many boxes to tick. If we are ticking the box for fighting for freedoms and reforms, Ruto knows during that time he was with the status quo and was primitively accumulating wealth. So, who can you trust based on their past performance in that sector that will still fight for our freedom and rights? 3. I agree with Bitok that Kenyatta should have not been given the presidency. However, it was a mistake that the Mau Mau and Kikuyus made. Kenyatta is the person they fronted & they never disagreed with him. But Bitok also forgets Kenyatta was detained for promoting certain rights including independence for his people. So Kenyatta contributed to power struggle during independence. 5. The term state capture is a convinience creation of David Ndii, we've been with him and we know his ideas. Ndii is a guy who likes scorched earth policy against his perceived enemies. Even if state capture exists, how can you trust a guy like Ruto who made billions through tenders courtesy of state capture and dalliance with the people in power?It took Ruto 20 years, supporting UHURU in 2002, 2013, 2017, 2018 to finally realize there is state capture. So when Moi Ruled for over 24 years and Kibaki 10 years, there was no state capture?

@Kennedy Obiero - Very succinctly put. It is abominable that people are trying to provide cover for known criminals using superfluous intellectuality. Bitok is not doing a good job trying to clothe essentially what is intrinsic tribalism with loosely constructed ideas that have gaping logical flaws. It is not only criminal to mention a junior like Ruto with the likes of Raila in the same breath - it is also the height of hypocrisy.

Manyora is a simple, practical man. The Jubilee manifesto was one of the most promising manifesto we have ever seen. But we failed to judge the character of the ticket, even the mzungu warned us that choices have consequences. Bitok want us to believe that a promise is more important than the person giving the promise. C'mon! The promise is important, and both Ruto and Raila have promise, but even more importantly we have to judge their characters. That means we have to see what they have fought for over the years and their values. What are their friends? Do they move around leaving traces of court cases and theft?
