Canadian baritone Gerald Finley is joined by collaborative pianist Julius Drake in a stunning program of Germanic and Russian art song. The first half focuses on Beethoven and Schubert settings of Goethe, including Schubert's breakout version of "Erlkönig." The second half features songs and romances of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff--literature that displays the beautiful traditions of Russian songwriting. The program concludes with a selection of folk songs.
