Balancing your Trolling Motor for perfect Electronics readout

Check out something I figured out a while back. Make sure your trolling motor is level. If it isn't, get some TH Marine wedges to balance and offset the trolling motor. At times you could expect to see your bait on your Humminbird unit, but if you didn't it can be because your transducer isn't shooting directly below the bow.

For those asking about how it compare to on the water... I'm assuming he did this already... you need to first bring the level and some kind of spacers, coins work well, out with you on the water. Pick a spot on the boat and add coins under the level until it reads level. Then with the boat on the trailer in that same spot use the same amount of coins it took in step one, and crank the trailer up or down until you read level again. Now your boat sits as it does in the water... and now compare how level or not the trolling motor is.

Agreed. The coin trick with the level is the method I believe is correct. Use the same technique to level out your big banana side imaging ducer on the back as well. Its always nice to find improvements that don't cost money.... Unless you drop some coins in the water...

With the boat sitting in the shop, how do know how your boat sits in the water? What your saying makes a lot of sense though.👍

When on water take a level with you and set on coins to make level. Then in garage use same coins and adjust boat level.. now you know how far off it is with out of water.

Not a boat pro but does your boat sit the same way on the trailer as it does in the water? Seems like the angle would change from trailer to water and even with how much weight you put in o e end of the boat or the other
