I think each actress was cast in the right role. However, I always liked Geradline's sweet and adorable Tonya the most of the two women in Zhivago's life. If Julie Christie's Lara was the Ginger of the film, then Geraldine Chaplin's Tonya perfectly represented the Mary Ann(and I mean that as a compliment to her).

There is no way to compare an epic drama like “DOCTOR ZHIVAGO” to a sitcom like “GILLIGAN’S ISLAND”. If the famed cartoonist Charles Addams had drawn some promo work on the movie for The New Yorker Magazine, well, Julie would resemble Ophelia Frump while Geraldine on the other hand resembles Morticia Frump Addams.

Charlie had eight children between his late 50s and early seventies and this was years before Viagra. I am sure they had natural remedies and therapies. In order to have a succesful sexual relationship people need to realize that sex is more than just penetration and should include oral and manual stimulation. Anyway, I think Geraldine was the only one of the children who vetured into an acting career. I think two of her other siblings tried out acting careers but I am not sure.

Géraldine Chaplin is beautiful; however I feel in Doktor Zhivago she was made to look less pretty as if to justify her husband's adultery. Julie Christie as Lara was much more attractive. Although in real life they are equal in the looks department.
