ce Choeur-là , à ses débuts, avec les anciens, avec sa basse profonde et sa parfaite unité polyphonique, monte l'Art du chant liturgique à un tel sommet qu'il nous fait croire un instant que le 7° Ciel existe véritablement... la beauté symphonique de ce chant-là (Psaume Premier) leur permet de transcender toute imitation.

Это что-то неописуемое ! Шелестящие тенора, могучие басы, просто воркующие на верхней тесситуре, а потом взрывающиеся всей мощью и уходящие опять на пианиссимо, а дракон - П. Михалик... Небеса трепещут от такого пения...

My TEARS flow of JOY, to have had the privilege to have heard this fabulous Choir in Munich in the 50s. Many of us cried, the Choir was so much smaller then in my Childhood. BUT YET SO POWERFUL. Thank YOU for preserving this CULTURE and the memories of SERGE JAROFF.

there was only one don kosacks choir and that was this choir.it was unique.beautyfull and very powerfull.excellent harmonys and great and powerfull voices and this choir should never be forgotten

Ich hatte das große Glück, die original Don-Kosaken in den 70-er Jahren in der Oetker - Halle in Bielefeld mit meiner Mutter (Gott habe sie selig) zu hören. Es war und ist unvergesslich.

As a youngster, just learning piano and violin, I spent a great deal of time listening to old 78 recordings of the Don Cossack chorus. Hospodi Pomilui especially had a powerful influence on me. Years later as a conductor, when I was working with choruses on things like Handel Messiah, I tried to evoke the same "Russian" qualities from the choir, to good effect! How I love this music! My goal is to travel to Russia to see if this music is still alive and well there.

I heard Paul Myhalik at St. Thomas church NYC where he sang in the 50’s & 60’s when he wasn’t on tour with the Jaroff Cossack choir. His sound from low D to G1 would carry throughout that very large gothic church!

The St.Thomas choir of men and boys in the 50’s & 60’s had 40 boys & 20 men. Paul could be easily heard singing the octave against 59 other singers!

BTW- there exists a recording of the Jaroff Cossacks singing a Requiem Mass that has Chandrovsky singing the part of the Dyakon ( deacon, cantor) & Paul Myhalik is clearly audible in the choir, ergo they did sing together at that time.
