This is the best video I have watched for this repair. I've watched 4 or 5 because only 1 other video talks about the adjustment of the breaks post completion, and it is way more complicated than this. This video goes into more depth than any other video with discussion about the e-brake line and some other details. The one thing I didn't hear him mention is to make sure you're using high temperature grease, or break grease/lube. All of the copper lubricants I have looked at are high temperature.

Awesome video. I am ready and now feel confident to replace the brakes on my 1999 Dodge Ram. Thanks for doing a great job to help others to be successful at doing their own projects. This is one the best videos that I have seen for doing repairs on KZbin. Many thanks.

I agree with you Michael. Tomorrow I start working on the shoes and drum on my 98 Dodge ram. I can only the imagine the cost of sending this project to a mechanic.

Excellent job, and really good video and audio. I think I'll have to do this later next year, it's been a while since I had a look. I'm glad to see you still have your Ram, despite the high price of fuel in Europe. It's been a while since I've done drums, we don't see them very often any more. For those watching, if you replaced the cylinder don't forget to bleed the lines of air. Cheers!

I replaced the wheel cylinder without disconnecting all of the springs. You can spin the star wheel on the adjuster to the point it takes tension off the ends of the wheel cylinder. Always remember to leave the bolts holding the cylinder while breaking the brake line fitting loose so it stays in place instead of rotating and bending the brake line.

Hey man thanks for this video and I replaced everything like you did. I pumped the brakes and drove around the block it started leaking again. What a headache. I think it may be the (pins) that goes inside cylinder and they keep extending to far out and boot and spring just comes out while everything else is in place as it should. Can you give me your suggestion because the pins are a little worn and could be missing brake shoes guiding slot. Thanks again.

A cool upgrade to the rear drum brakes of ALL 2nd generation Dodge RAMs (1500, 2500 & 3500) is to use GMC dually truck wheel cylinders to give more power to them.

This is a great video. I was looking for a video like this 10 years ago. Video quality, audio quality and shot angles are right on target. Was wondering about the copper antiseize paste. Is it recommended for brake assembly in general?
