One thing that has to be noted. If Gerard and Lille Barro are somewhere similar in power. It just goes to show you how OP both Ukitake and Shunsui really are. Ukitake and Mimihagi are keeping the three worlds separate while Shunsui faced Lille almost completely by himself. They really were Yamas best students.

Makes you think of how much stronger they were than the Espada. I mean we saw what happened when Shunsui got serious against Stark. Shunsui has always been my favourite character from his debut. There's always been a shroud of mystery around him and how strong he really is.

Not saying Stark would've won or on the same level as Lille or that Yama would've won that fight after his bankai was taken but those two fights would've been different if each was in the right mindset

I think they're keeping Mimihagi around to actually give Yhwach an actual reason to go to the Soul Society to start the refusing of the three worlds into one by destroying Mimihagi in the Soul Society who is barely keeping them separate. (In the manga I never got why Yhwach went to the Soul Society to refuse the worlds back to one) (Also hoping the Visards last at least one full episode dedicated to them fighting Gerrard)

Imo I don't think the shinken hakkyoken was that bad. I don't think Kubo used it as an easy way out of the Lille fight, I actually think it's the other way around. I believe he used Lille as a way to give Shunsui and Nanao some backstory, especially after Shunsui just recently became the head captain. It would have been just as easy for Kubo to extend the beginning of the Kyoraku Vs Lille fight, and then after using Vollständig have Kyoraku's bankai actually finish Lille off. It wouldn't be unbelievable, considering how broken his bankai is and the fight would still be good. However, I think he gave Lille the second, more broken, Vollständig as a way to introduce Nanao into the fight, give her some backstory, some growth and also flesh out Kyoraku a bit

That's what I think as well. I never got the other side of the argument. Do people really believe the form was created first and then the sword came just to finish it off? It's so glaringly clear to me Kubo had already thought of the backstory and just made that form as an excuse to show the backstory.

regardless , the introduction of that sword was terrible. I'm reminded of that scene in toy story where Andy was playing with his toys " you can't touch me sheriff, I brought my attack dog with a built in force field !" " well I brought my dinosaur who eats force field dogs!" The sword being the tye perfect counter to lille barro's new form is ridiculously convient .

I wasn't reading bleach weekly when it was still ongoing and I didn't start until I was in high school, but I've heard Kubo was rushing the arc so maybe that's why it ended up that way. Again maybe Kubo had a plan for Nanao's family and the noble families and wanted that to be the power of the blade regardless. Lille being perfectly countered by it might have come afterwards but that's just headcannon. Because Lille going from messenger of god to god himself (or being considered a god) is less believable than a noble family having a sword that can split gods' power/light, which could have been tied into the story by being written as the tool used to dismember the soul king. It's also possible that it was just a get-out-of-jail free card for the Lille fight too though

I'm like 99% sure Matsumoto has a sense of resonance coming over her since Gerard is the Soul King's heart, and she has a small piece of the Soul King herself. At least that'd make sense to me. I will say we never seen Pernida and Gerard have any sort of unique interaction so maybe not. I will say it's pretty cool that Gerard is the one who saves Pernida from falling off of the Royal Palace in a previous scene.

I do feel like they are not gonna change the collapse chips, but more so they might gonna "expand" on how it will all work in the Uryu vs. Jugram fight. Since what the "anime expansions and additions" are usually explained through the staff interviews. They always ask for "more information" about specific things in the manga that they can include in the anime and not saying to Kubo they would like to remove this bit and ask him what would they change it with instead.

It seems with the emphasis on the eyes and the new line about only Uryu being able to take down Yhwach, his bloodline will allow him to use the Antithesis to momentarily grant himself the Almighty; letting the steel silver arrow hit in the final fight.

I have just reread the gerard vs. gotei captains/ lieutenant part and wow that scene where gerard turns into a giant after byakuya seemingly kills him is such a great transformation scene. The huge foot growing outa nowhere and then him getting up and smashing the buildings surrounding him is really well drawn. Its very epic and very cool. Shame that the anime skipped that... The chapter works much better as shown in the manga compared to the anime. Gerrard seems quite terryfing. Also chapter 655 to chapter 661 (so basically everything until court 4 minus hitsugaya appearance vs gerrard) have a very nice flow. The sequence in which things are happening is better thought out than shown in the anime. Plus Jushiros introduction into the askin fight is better in the manga and his dialogue with askin is a bit more fluent than in the anime. Basically I think I like every adapted scene in episode 39 (and 40 for the most part) a bit more in the manga than shown in the anime. So yeah kubo really cooked with these chapters back in the day. I really begin to appreciate this now seeing that the anime just cant do 655-661 as great as the manga back then. Still all the new additions are very much appreciated and I firmly believe that in the end the anime will turn out superior to the manga.

I actually like how Gerard's initial transformation was off-screen because it plays very well into the horror vibe the anime team was going for in this part of the fight. It feels like they were exploiting all the jump scare potential of the God Size, and I'm all for it, especially in conjunction with his glowing eyes and echoey voice.

Askin catching up to Yoruichi did more for 0 division reputation then some of their own extra scenes. She is fastest in SS, with exeption of probably being slower then Yama when he was alive, and yet, Askin cought up to her moment after she carried out Yushiro, meaning Askin is almost as fast as her, not including her special tehniques, and then you remember, Tenjiro was casualy overrunning Askin and Nimaya was blitzing him.

There's some weird stuff going on in that fight and it's not just Gerard's miracle. Why couldn't Lille originally use the X-Axis but rather shot normal bullets? Why did Pernida die after getting stabbed once? Why didn't the Schutzstaffel enter their full voldstadig when fighting the most elite shinigami squad?

​@@NeonForceGetsuga Specifically his "fake" Bankai outfit is part of his powers, his Shikai Shihakusho was a standard Shinigami outfit and this outfit was sown specifically for him by Senjumaru. Besides, i don't think wrappings for your weapons can be considered a part of your outfit. He always got the wrappings for his "fake" Shikai back because they never ripped. Not that i can recall anyway, he always unwraps it. In his "true" Shikai, the wrappings are always shredded and/or completely gone aside from the handle of the big blade which never even unwraps. This isn't about pointing out a mistake btw, i thought it's just odd that the need was felt to write in to wrap them up again while they're in enemy territory.

The anime should've had the new fight be Soifon vs Ishida (instead of Renji) and given her some brand new badass skills and abilities that took Ishida to the brink of death (only to be saved by the Antithesis, Voldstand, or his pseudo-Almighty powers). They could've left everything else the same (ie: her "death", Omieda trying to take her back down to SS to "save" her, them running into the Vizards and Hacchi stabilizing her on the way, etc). They both could be honorably be written off until the Hell arc, and have the redemption treatment Squad Zero got. Renji vs Ishida NEVER made sense. Soifon attacking Ishida directly w/o hestitation in order to kill the traitor Quincy (and him conversly attacking her in order to make an "example") wouldve fit their personalities and motivations MUCH better. Plus, the fight would match better as she is actually a close-range and fast fighter that would force Ishida to change tactics. Meanwhile, in core 4, "new and improved" Renji could still fight (and lose) to OP skyscraper Gerald, but not before debuting all the new moves he showed us vs Ishida. That simple change/swap wouldve elevated both her and the core to ridiculous new heights and hype. But instead, we get this... I don't know how/why Soifon is even a Captain still. She was introduced to us as Kenpachi-level dangerous. Her "terrifying" Shikai AND Bankai have yet to hit, defeat, or kill anything. Thanks to Squad Zero, she can't boast about being the fastest anymore, nor commanding the best Assassin unit. Yourichi beat her, Barrigan beat her (Haachi FTW), Aizen humiliated her twice at least, her Zanpackto beat her, hell even BG9 beat her and prolly used her Bankai better 🙈. Kubo obviously HATES her so why not just kill her off at this point? 😖😠 Such a waste.

the fact that we get Pernida and Gerard mentions of them having innate powers, and then the Uryu flashbacks in the next episode... it feels like a very intentional addition and might be hinting at something with Uryu who shares another thing in common with those two IF that theory about what was happening after he fought Senjumaru is right. idk Kubo wouldnt be adding things for no reason and the fact that we get additional backstory with other Quincies is neat. something I just think is so cool: it was raining outside at the time I first watched this finale and AS Yoruichi triggered her ability, lightning no joke hit something somewhere in the neighborhood. It was like Bleach had become real life. never experienced anything like it

If you are asking about the auswachlen that ended up killing Masaki & katagiri, then that one is aimed for impure Quincy. Ryuken by all right is still an etch (pure blood) Quincy, so he is not targeted on the first place. As for the second auswachlen which Yhwach used during his fight with Ichibei, he probably only target sternritters within soul society.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that scene with soi fon making the very reckless decision to jump right into her opponents eyesight , loudly say her bankai and being swatted away like a fly was the writers way to show how dire the situation is and clearly there is no way to fight gerard as a ninja . Based off the way he was talking it doesn’t sound like this is his first time growing in size by converting damage he receives into power. But this is his first time becoming this big from getting injured in battle. So I believe he could go back to his normal if he wanted to but just chooses not to.

They are setting up for Mimihagi to be the final obstacle between Yhwach and the destruction of the three worlds, which makes a lot more sense than him journeying to Soul Society to I guess flex on everyone for no reason lol.

My headcanon is that in the Bleach universe characters can survive more deadly damage if their spiritual pressure is strong enough. Explains all the seemingly mortal wounds certain characters receive that they never die from.

And I know Kiyone has never been a serious competitor in the power scaling, but she is a high ranking Court Guard officer so shes not just some stray soul with no spiritual pressure. *Shrug* To your point though. besides the first time uryu talks to jugram and the way he looks i dont see the uneven art in the episode.. literally the rushed that one uryu scene but everything else seemed great
