This is Geri disarming people so they don’t judge her. She is all about herself ultimately. She thinks she’s smarter than everyone and more logical. Go back and watch the spice girls docs. She thought she was it. When she learnt she wasn’t, she left the spice girls.

I’m a teacher with a Master of Education and over twenty years experience working with children. During my masters, I focused on the importance of picture books for the development of reading. I’ve also read hundreds of children’s books and read extensively about what book types interest them. YET, it never occurred to me that I should write a book. It’s not lack of confidence or ability. I know that getting children reading is essential. Plus, we need to be providing books for children from all social backgrounds and writing books with rich vocabulary and beautiful illustrations. Authors who write excellent children’s books are immensely talented. I’m not sure I’m in their league. I do wonder why Geri thinks she is. I’ve nothing against her but what I do not like is the dominance of celebrity books for children in book shops. If, however, Geri is determined to continue with this hobby, she needs to do her homework. Please no stereotypes and don’t insult their intelligence. Kids are pretty smart. They need to be challenged and they love to laugh. Let’s always do our best for them.

Have you read her book then? It's really good and got great reviews. Also Geri studied english literature in college before getting into the Spice girls. Was a major part of their songwriting, wrote all her own solo hits except for the cover, wrote two autobiographies which did well and some childrens book before. This is a book for entertainment that empowers kids, i dont get how that could be wrong. If they like it, they like it. If they don't they dont but its a big book so it's more for avid readers and teenagers than very little kids. Geri is actually a skilled writer, it isnt a celeb just doing it for money. She put many years into writing this.

⁠@@Marc-zi5cq I walked into WH Smith today and the areas that sell children’s books were full of celebrity books. The same authors I always see with multiple copies of their books covering the shelves. I think I was quite clear in my post regarding what I was objecting to. Whether Geri has written other books or studied English at college is beside the point. Are her books engaging? Are her books popular with a large number of children? I know where to find the answers to those questions. Do you?Read my original post. Sigh. Such a waste of time commenting on social media and what a shame people are blinded by celebrity culture. @@christinewalton3106 I don't get your problem? If it was a no name writer you wouldnt mind but because she's known as a singer, it somehow doesnt sit well with you? Why don't you read the book and then make up your own mind. I do think it's engaging. Also i don't think think childrens book would benefit from a Geri Halliwell writing them if it wasnt any good, as her fans are clearly at least in their early 30s now. Her book made the New York Times Bestsellers so someone must be buying it and the reviews are good. Whether they are engaging is surely down to the individual but since they want her to write her second and third installment and are in talks for a movie, loads of people seem to believe in it and i dont think, it's only down to the fact that she's a Popstar.
