Yes, thank you, Aurelian Craiutu, for discussing the role and importance of Madame de Staël in French history. I did read Corrine, or Italy in translation and was surprised to find that the work is mixed genre, alternating historic and scenic passages about Italy and a love story. Since everyone is finally interested in what is now called "hybrids," you would think someone would unearth this lineage and give her a little credit in that realm - the formal realm of literature.
