This captured German film is a documentary on the advance of the German Army during the invasion of Poland, September 1939.
Historical background:
The Invasion of Poland, also known as the September Campaign (Polish: Kampania wrześniowa), and alternatively the Poland Campaign (German: Polenfeldzug) or Fall Weiss in Germany (Case White), was a joint invasion of Poland by Germany, the Free City of Danzig, the Soviet Union, and a small Slovak contingent, that marked the beginning of World War II in Europe. The German invasion began on 1 September 1939, one week after the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, while the Soviet invasion commenced on 17 September following the Molotov-Togo agreement that terminated the Russian and Japanese hostilities in the east on 16 September. The campaign ended on 6 October with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and annexing the whole of Poland under the terms of the German-Soviet Frontier Treaty.
German forces invaded Poland from the north, south, and west the morning after the Gleiwitz incident. As the Wehrmacht advanced, Polish forces withdrew from their forward bases of operation close to the Polish-German border to more established lines of defense to the east. After the mid-September Polish defeat near Bzura, the Germans gained an undisputed advantage. Polish forces then withdrew to the southeast where they prepared for a long defense of the Romanian Bridgehead and awaited expected support and relief from France and the United Kingdom. Those two countries had pacts with Poland and had declared war on Germany on 3 September, though in the end their aid to Poland in the September campaign was very limited.
The Soviet Red Army's invasion of Eastern Poland on 17 September, in accordance with a secret protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, rendered the Polish plan of defense obsolete. Facing a second front, the Polish government concluded the defense of the Romanian Bridgehead was no longer feasible and ordered an emergency evacuation of all troops to neutral Romania. On 6 October, following the Polish defeat at the near Kock, German and Soviet forces gained full control over Poland. The success of the invasion marked the end of the Second Polish Republic, though Poland never formally surrendered.
On 8 October, after an initial period of military administration, Germany directly annexed western Poland and the former Free City of Danzig and placed the remaining block of territory under the administration of the newly established General Government. The Soviet Union incorporated its newly acquired areas into its constituent Belarusian and Ukrainian republics, and immediately started a campaign of sovietization. In the aftermath of the invasion, a collective of underground resistance organizations formed the Polish Underground State within the territory of the former Polish state. Many of the military exiles that managed to escape Poland subsequently joined the Polish Armed Forces in the West, an armed force loyal to the Polish government in exile.

Poland was invaded in September 1, 1939 from the four directions. North, west, south - by the Germans and in September 17 - by the Russians from the east. No natural barriers like mountains, waters or weather at all. Even USA would have serious problems to resist. French situation in 1940 seems to be almost comfortable to repulse in comparison.

And now, when every one of these aids and advantages has been squandered and thrown away, Great Britain advances, leading France by the hand, to guarantee the integrity of Poland - of that very Poland which with hyena appetite had only six months before joined in the pillage and destruction of the Czechoslovak State. There was sense in fighting for Czechoslovakia in 1938 when the German Army could scarcely put half a dozen trained divisions on the Western Front, when the French with nearly sixty or seventy divisions could most certainly have rolled forward across the Rhine or into the Ruhr.

@@user-rf9vy2xw2s #1. As a Russian specialist in misrepresentation and alternative truth you are silent about some facts , this is how the region taken from Czechs in 1939 got into their hands: they invaded in 1920 then Polish Cieszyn Silesia using the moment when Poles were just busy kicking Budionnyi, Stalin and Tukhachevski's herd out of Poland. Contrary earlier bilateral arrangements and negotiations of Entente, Czechs simply did aggression on principle of accomplished facts. However the most interesting is, that you may ask today some Czech, if he has any reservations about such an understanding of facts. #2. Another facts are Poles did not murder and deport Czech people and did not commit genocide on 21,768 Czech officers as Russians did with Polish officers after Semptember 17 , 1939. #3. However as a Pole I can say that anything does not change the fact that the takeover of Cieszyn Silesia by Poland was an ashaming and extremely stupid deed. Just as today , there was no shortage of toxic idiots in Polish politics then. .This disease has been being one of the common diseases of Poland and Russia, but the difference is that Poles never allow to be held captive for long by anyone, even by their own, like docile Russians.///And one more thing - we can admit our mistakes. But for this you need a bit of courage and guts, which the Russians lack and that is why they still live in an alternative historical reality and make still the world laugh and entertaining at themselves.

knowing this, Poland better had accepted the peace initiatives from Germany in summer 1939 prior to the subsequent invasion by Germany
@JesusMagicPanties
@JesusMagicPanties 3 жыл бұрын
@@hokro227 Churchill also "could have accepted" . But he didn't, even though he was up to his neck in shit with no real prospects to resist the German storm and Hitler seemed to be anything but to be defeated , then. Some things are not acceptable at any cost. In Polish case it was better to lose with Winston than to win with an disturbed bum from Vienna. A matter of a good taste probably .The Germans used to have some troubles with understanding the concept of a good taste. So sad. Therefore they have lost Third Reich quite tasteless. The Poles were then in a situation with really no wise solution, although certain Pole used to say that when you do not know what to do, just try to be decent....Decency is an unprofitable stuff in politics, that's why the Poles paid a lot for it.

Patton was going to do a first strike suprise attack on the expended Red Army, Patton with the help of 2 SS Divisons and a German air force would be under Patton's command along with thee largest U.S. Army the 3rd, and the 8th Air Force agreed to drive the Reds all the way back to their Soviet border, Gen. Patton said he could have done this in only 6 weeks because the Soviets were so beat up at that time of weakness, Patton said if he did not attack the Red Army he would consider himself a coward for not standing up for freedom and liberty, , , then Patton is almost assassinated in a car accident then was murdered 2 weeks later by joint U.S. and Soviet secret service, thanks Truman the traitor!

Funny how German Soldiers are deified in these films, while in the real world, Hitler would later rail them for their “cowardice” after his strategic decisions left them in an impossible situation. The Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe were great against small and soft targets like Denmark, but no match for better prepared forces. Failure was everyone’s except his. A deluded, sad man.

I'm sure they did at least in some small part for it was common. At the very least, they melted down their equipment for scrap, repurposed some machinery, used some supplies they had. Though, this is conjecture. I know they used some French arms and equipment, for example. Nothing some research couldn't reveal, for sure

And let's not forget Germany never paid any reparations to Poland- the country which suffered the most through civilian and material losses. If any reparations were paid on account of Poland damages, they went to the Soviet Union. My grandparents lived around 40km/25miles from Warsaw (in a straight line), and Germans forced them to build temporary shelters for their planes. My grand-grandmother told me stories when she smuggled meat for the Poles living in Warsaw during the occupation- food was strictly rationed (rations leading to starvation), and the meat was allowed only for Germans. I listened to these stories with my very own ears when I was 10-15 years old. As a child, I had frequent nightmares, where I tried to escape "Łapanka" (please search on Wikipedia for more information about what "Łapanka" was). We will never forget what Germans did to our population, culture, cities, villages and industry. Could you believe that Germany still keeps Polish artefacts robbed from our museums and castles?

And now, when every one of these aids and advantages has been squandered and thrown away, Great Britain advances, leading France by the hand, to guarantee the integrity of Poland - of that very Poland which with hyena appetite had only six months before joined in the pillage and destruction of the Czechoslovak State. There was sense in fighting for Czechoslovakia in 1938 when the German Army could scarcely put half a dozen trained divisions on the Western Front, when the French with nearly sixty or seventy divisions could most certainly have rolled forward across the Rhine or into the Ruhr.

But ultimately Poland won the war because its collective logical thinking made them choose the winning side. In spite if over 100 (Germany + Soviet Union) to 1 (Poland) advantage, both Germany lost the war and Russia communism empire fell apart. That's exactly what Poland was fighting for. So think about it: maybe one should pay attention to the Polish reasoning? And, most important, the hand of ALMIGHTY was at play?
