This video is about German Invasion of Poland. It explained some of the plaining and operation of the invasion. Apparently, the footage come persuasively from German sources because I see no Polish Military footage. This video is in the Public Domain. The Master Copy can be found at the National Archives and Records Administration, Room 4000, 8601 Adelphi Road, Hyattsville, MD 20740-6001. The Archival Retrieval Catalog (ARC) number is: 24457

We have to remember that Poland was not just invaded by NAZI Germany alone, but also by the Soviet Union and Slovakia. Poland was to be divided up between the USSR, Germany and Slovakia. No nation in Europe at that time could withstand that much military pressure. Also Poland was kept from properly mobilizing its troops by France, as France believed there was still a chance to negotiate peacefully with Hitler and avoid a European war.

""We have to remember that Poland in 1938""...We have to remember that in 1920 Benes politically swindled the Poles at the negotiations in Spa BE., to which Polish premier Wincenty Witos said: "The Polish nation has received a blow which will affect future relations with the Czechs".

@@frankcorner8716 Poles took back what had been stolen from them by Czech in 1920 when Poles were had been busy fighting Bolsheviks. Yeah in 1938 the timing of reclaiming those stolen land was bad, but remember Czechs stabbed Poles at the back by taking this piece of land 19 years earlier, they had also had infamously massacred Polish POWS (Stonawa, Jan 1919). They stabbed to death with bayonets wounded POWs of Polish defence garrizon, chased the rest of POWS which realized they are about to be executed on the spot and barbarically slaughtered them in various sickening ways, even set one body on fire. Czechs were also indiscriminately killing civillians, in each of above cases they took victims personal belongings, boots, everything they could find on them. Didn't let the POWS bodies to be buried by local people for several days under death penalty for doing so. Also, Czech infamously were stopping trains with weapons and ammo directed for Poland in order to jeopardize Polish war effort against Bolsheviks...

I think you can't call them "allies". They just signed that they won't attack eachother (Hitler feared that Britain and the US will attack if he attacks Poland, therefore he didn't want Russia as his enemy as well). They wanted to restore the territory like it was before WW1 (Germany got the west part of Poland, Russia the east part). BTW: The soviet union even kept that territory after the war was over (they said they lost so many men, therefore keeping the territory at least).

It is fascinating footage, and enjoyable for that. The dramatic and carefully chosen background music plus the tone of the commentary are little more than a distraction entirely consistent with the way the enemy - of either side - was portrayed by the other in that conflict. It is not the point of watching this now to be concerned about the style the film maker used then ; it was exactly the point of the film then. Anyone who feels the need to rant about now it in a larger historical context (other than simply what it displays in the footage) is really more interested in their own emotional response to the broader political issues touched on than in the footage itself, much of which is remarkable.

Ekaterina Peshkova(Maxim Gorky's wife) the chairwoman of organization Assistance to Political Prisoners was awarded by an order of Polish Red Cross for her participation in the exchange of POWs after the Polish-Soviet War.After this war, Germans & Soviets again planned for partitions of Poland with Treaty of Rapallo(1922). Interesting and informative excellent photography job making it easier for viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Historians did a very good job presenting actual facts from fiction. Class A research project!!! Orator presented the documentary very well. I fail to understand how the German armies. Claimed such glorious victory over the WW-1 out dated equipped polish forces. With the assistance of Stalin's forces. Days after the German invasion. Special thanks to the Polish military forces. Who fought/perished/survived/fighting both invading army forces. For Germany's mechanized infantry. I was amused viewing 1000's of transportation horses.

Even most slavonic people in these provinces felt connected to Germany and not Poland. Want evidence? Just take a look at the votes of 1921 in provinces in East and West Prussia as well as Upper Silesia. Results were quite the same in each of them: 60 until up to 95% (!!) voted for Germany.

Germany invaded Poland first, Britain & France declared war on Germany when Hitler refused to withdraw. Two weeks later the Soviet Union invaded Poland. Yes, Britain & France had every reason to declare war on the Soviet Union. However the Allies were already at war with Germany, Only a fool would unite his two biggest enemies. Also, Britain & France were not ready for any kind of war due to their cowardly leaders. Hitler and Stalin were already helping each other, Nazi-Soviet Pact, etc

SO?-- This deserves a few more words. In the late '30s Polish armed forces prepared "Plan West", a plan of mobilization of Polish military IN CASE of war with Germany. Meanwhile the Polish plans were justified in any case, since hitler authorized "Operation White"(invasion of Poland) in early 1939 & then in late August of that year proceeded to realize his plans with the USSR from the east, & a token force of Slovaks from the south.

There is none :) I think Hitler said he's inspired by Frederick the Great because many Germans back then felt affiliated to FtG, so that brought Hitler lots of sympathy in Germany. For example, he visited FtG's crypt and honoured him and made sure that the press about it. But there is no connection between Hitlers invasion of Poland (main reasons: Treaty of Versailles and killing of Germans in Poland) and FtG's invasion of Silesia (which was property of Austria and Prussian legacy of some sort).

"Gestapo-NKVD Conferences 1939-41"--These conferences in particular attract my attention. One of resulting programs was "A-B Aktion" by nazis. My personal opinion is that "Katyn" killings were initially planned here also, since it was reported that a man who was an expert at killing "at the back of the skull" was present. Furthermore, nazis just "happened to find" the corpses later which Goebbels automatically exploited hoping to "drive a wedge" between the Allies using this "Stalinist" atrocity

I do agree with you that the Allies had every right to go to war with Russia but if that happened that might have had Russia and Germany teaming up and being allies and they then would have been impossible to beat.
