German Air Force Eurofighter Typhoons on red alert in Neuburg

Neuburg Airbase, situated in the Bavarian region in southern Germany, is home to the German Luftwaffe’s JG74, flying the Eurofighter EF2000 (Typhoon) in the air defense role since 2006. This November Airheadsfly.com met them when they returned home to Neuberg after a long stay elsewhere.

I do admit I prefer the Rafale. I think the upgrades both of these platforms are getting will only make them more capable and deadlier.

Beim Eurofighter handelt es sich um einen Jäger. Er ist leicht und perfekt für den Luft-Nah-Kampf, wo er auch alle anderen Flugzeuge schlagen kann. Trotzdem kann sich die Bewaffnung sehen lassen. Eine BK-27 Bordkanone, und bis zu 12 Luft-Luftraketen. Das sind 4 mehr als auf einer F/A 18. Auch setzt er bessere Luft-Luftraketen ein, als die F/A 18 oder die Su-35. Die IRIS-T und bald die METEOR, beide haben große Vorteile gegenüber den veralteten AIM-9 Sidewinder, R-27 Wympel und den AMRAAM Raketen.

In fact the JF17 is a very versatile fighter with the best cost / perfomance ratio yet, its performance is very good, comparable to the Mirage 2000 and dont forget that France, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy and Spain do not have the money any longer to maintain the old Rafalles, Tornado, Mirage and Eurofighter to an ever ready standard according to Nato conditions, they need an easy to maintain cost effective brandnew multirole fighter with very good performance and superb reliability. Bulgaria has just ordered 40 JF17 to replace their Mig29.
