@@Leenapanther sorry but you got no idea what you are talking about. Lacta is a modelez pwned company that produces chocolate that has looks like plastic compared to Ion that is the real thing. Lacta manly caters to kids and teens and some younger folks with typical jingles and showing youth and couples etc and they change their packaging schemes plenty while staying on their 2 main colors but Ion is a diferent kind of beast. Every other company in Greece including Paulides that now is owned by Jacobs Suchard imports their coccoa powder and their coccoa butter but Ion imports whole coccoa fruit and processes themselves to maintain their own specs on quality standards for the coccoa butter as well for the whole process of roasting the core and grinding it, they keep the same packaging scheme for their main products for last 60+ years unchanged because it wraps a classic product and does not need to promote something recognised all over Greece as superior and their commercials often focus on memmories and nostalgia because people enjoyed that same product for at least 2 generations and got plenty of personal memmories connected with this.

the only ottoman about dolmadakia is the name. When ottomans conquered Kontantinople (Istanbul as it is known today, or the Byzantine empire) all the sultans wanted to eat like Greeks. Who were already experimenting with ingredients coming from west and east. The same happened before that with the Roman empire when they conquered Greeks. The Elite of the Romans showed their status by how much of a Greek lifestyle they had. They had to have Greek teachers for their kids, had to have the best Greek cuisine and the closest to the Greek way of life, statues and everything. Let's not forget that Alexander the Great's empire transferred ingredients and recipes before anyone else to and from east and west. Theophrastus (Θεόφραστος) in his book: "The history of plants", was one of the many Greek scientists and philosophers that first described all these products. Their ORIGIN, their taste, their use and their properties. Greeks always shared knowledge. Turks always ravaged, renamed and presented everything as their own.

I'm from Greece and I really love ION chocolates, especially ION Almond bar. What Katerina has explained to you is true, it's among the most classical ones here, though not in a stick (stick version is fairly recent). If you ever get a bar of that almond chocolate you'll get blown not only by its taste but its smell as well! Pasteli (sesame bar) used to be my least liked one when I was a child but as I grew up and tried different bars, I feel that the best pasteli is made of only sesame seeds and honey. Most of the ones you find in the market usually contain some glycose syrup which somehow ruin the sweetness and make you feel the bitterness of the sesame more, while the ones that you buy from local bakeries may taste so much better. I suggest you read the labels. I used to enjoy a lot of Lacta when I was young but nowadays I feel its taste too sugary, too sweet so I may go for other milk chocolate bars.

That Loux orangeade is the best soft drink in our country. I say that because you said it tastes too artificial... Well, it is the only orangeade to have 35% fresh orange juice. What you are tasting is the combination of the highest amount of actual juice, mixed with the purest water of Greece and then carbonated. We prefer it than Fanta, but Fanta is awesome as well. Just keep in mind that Loux orangeade does not go well with very salty things (like the Pakotinia you had immediately before), because in general, orange juice doesn't go well with salt. They react funny when mixed.

We have a biiiih variety of dolmadakia/sarmadakia here in Hellas🇬🇷 Some recipes are for the best for the weeks of Lent because they do no contain meat but some other are for all over the year when we don’t fasting There are dolmadakia like those in the video, vine leaves with plain rice. There are similar recipes in Middle East but the Hellenic versions always have extra olive oil and Hellenic herbs We do dolmadakia with beetroot leaves, pumpkin flowers stuffed with rice, cabbage leaves with rice and minced meat and goes on…

Well, I’m from Greece and first of all I prefer ION more than lacta and there’s also a slogan of lacta for Valentine’s Day that says “Because you are the sweetest piece of my life”. And second there’s a lot more snacks you could try. I don’t like “pasteli” (the one with sesame and honey)

You have to try Merenda. Its like a Nutella, but its greek.

Hello! I m watching for the first time your channel and I have to say that I enjoyed it very much! I am Greek and I laughed so much with the drakoulinia squids or greek letters😂😂😂 For me Ion is the Best chocolate company and you have to try also the Caprise from Papadopoulos! Also the ntolmadakia is one of our best dishes here!

LACTA has more flavours like oreo, biscuit ect, but ION is older. That's why it is being sold a lot more. Also the sisami sticks are caled pasteli.

In Greece we eat dolmadakia combined with feta cheese. I prefer the ion chocolate out of the lacta one. As for the sokofreta, try the green one with milk chocolate and hazelnuts, it's amazing. In my hometown, Volos, instead of Loux, we drink epsa lemonade or orange juice.

Most of the Greek snacks are in general really tasty! Especially ION chocolate is so flavourful but not very sweet and made of high quality ingredients. For me among the best , only compared with some premium brands which are a lot more expensive... You should also try ION BREAK chocolate, Foudounia (peanut puff balls) , Elite crackers, Papadopoulos Gemista (chocolate stuffed biscuits), Papadopoulos Caprice (chocolate wafer Rolls), Violanta biscuits.....and many others actually😅!!! Greek quality food is unique!
