I'm familiar with the methods presented, and perceive a noticeable difference between the two approaches. My view is that the first practitioner applied an assessment based on neuromuscular response, while the second appeared to be using "technique specific" examination. The first, used biomechanically correct positioning of the C-spine, and proper alignment of his upper limbs, with the apparent outcome of segment-specific manipulation; the second, using a popular technique (which I do not favor), allowed the C-spine to be in a close-packed position, while his elbows were not aligned with the thrust. This, in my opinion, results in audibles that come from most-moveable segments, and not necessarily the segmental target. The lower-extremity work was precise and physiologically coherent. Although I was trained primarily in the US, I find that some of the best manual practitioners come from less ideologically constrained environments than ours. We, collectively, could step up our game, yes?

BackCarePlus Hi Doc! Thanks for the detailed and very knowledgable feedback! You are perfectly correct on the assessment. I use a combination of challenges and the Occipital Drop test and leg checks along with Advanced muscle palpation/Verterbaille to get information from the body on where I need to adjust while Dr. Cain is mostly using his way of motion palpation and static palpation (for swelling and nerve related spasm). I disagree a little on Dr. Cains cervical adjustment. He is not using Gonstead, though it might look like it at first. The set up and the contact is very different in his Kiso Method. The first adjustment in the upper thoracic was a special spinous push that went aswell into the body as across to reduce posteriority and rotation. The thrusting arm is in the line of drive for that. The second one in the upper cervicals is done with the neck in optimal relaxation meaning in extension relative to the segment. This has the dura and the muscles perfectly relaxed and opens the front. So it is not closed pack, but perfectly open for what we are trying to achieve, The thrust is going from p to a and lifts a little at the same time. The arm is in the correct line for that. I admit it is a little confusing since it first looks like classic Gonstead, but is a totally different way of adjusting after all. Thanks again for your kind, knowledgable and straight forward commentary! It is very much appreciated! I'm sure you are doing great work! Cheers from Germany to the US! Kai

I have seen this video so many times, that is how good it is. But my one qualm is the technique you use in the beginning, when you are feeling the skull. Is that a form of KST Technique? I have seen alot of videos on youtube so far that I don't have much faith in "feeling whats wrong" Kst technique... In alot of the videos they dont even touch the persons skull or spine and they start adjusting. Other then that your videos are excellent. They are my go too for Asmr and relaxation!
@chiropraxisgottingen3583

+Animehero kamina Hi! I am using the Occipital Drop Test there. This is a test that is also used in KST, but not exclusively. The Test was developed by the late Lowell Ward (DC) and is used in a few technique systems. It is similar to a chiropractic functional leg check. Explaining it from a structural point of view: The muscles that stabilize the whole spine (paraspinal musculature) run from the pelvis up to the head and attach at the lower ridge of the occiput. If you "challenge" (like pushing against it, or moving it) a body structure that is not under optimal control of the Nervous system (=subluxated) the musculature below the Occiput will react with a slight change in tension. So this is a way of narrowing things down to find the right spot to adjust, because you can feel the body reacting if there is a problem or not reacting if there is no problem. Some use this test in a more "metaphysical" way, but what I wrote is the structural/neurological explanation. There should be a combination of repeatable tests that guide you to the subluxation and it should not be limited to your educated mind telling you what you should do. Sadly some Chiropractors just do the "flying seven" on every patient (=they just crack the same areas on everybody) without really searching for the right spots with a reliable system. Thats not chiropractic. As a chiropractor you have to be like a detective and you have to learn from the patients body. The body of the client knows best, so we should be humble to that knowledge. After all we are not healers, we are just assisting the body to heal. I am using a combination of the Occipital Drop test and leg checks to narrow the area where I need to adjust down, than I use advanced muscle palpation and some neurofeedback tests to narrow it down even more. The real art of chiropractic is to adjust less, be less invasive but to find the exact spots where the major interference to the healthy function of the nervous system/body are, adjust only there and than let the body heal. Find it, accept it where you find it, fix it and leave it alone as Dr. Gonstead said a long time ago. Thank you for your compliment and I hope you enjoy my other videos too! Cheers!

Hi! The OD was originally developed by Dr. Lowell Ward in California. His method was named Spinal Column Stressology. Some of his students developed their own techniques later and continue to use the OD. Tedd Koren is the most prominent. I learned Reggies way of muscle palpation from one of his original Spinology students. I do not use it in the original way though. Cheers!

I have seen DCs since 78 when the pain started. In 2009 I had a full set of exrays done showing my sacrum was sticking out at a direct angle away from the spine and the tailbone almost straight down, no curve inward. I always went back into pain then spasm since very little was done to bring the sacrum down into alignment. Are there any advances in adjustments to help correct this? The lumbar spine is fusing now. I asked if more could be done to fix it and the answer was always we can't adjust that. It would make sense that sitting on a tailbone sticking out abnormally will undo what help the adjustment did.
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 5 жыл бұрын
I would be asking why the sacrum did that in the first place. There must be a reason elsewehere in the system, especially if the adjustments could not correct it. Often times the areas that look most akward are not were the real problem is, but where the body is compensating most. If yoi just keep pushing on what looks most misaligned without looking why and how and whats behind it, it will not work well. I cannot know exactly what is going on without analysing your system, but that is my thoughts on it. If you find the true cause, the olace where it all started most of the time correction or significant reduction is possible. All the best!

hello sir, I just wanted to ask you what the easiest way is to palpate the transverse processes of the cervical spine if the patient is lying supine. Are they in the gap between the sternocleido and the trapezius muscle? at 4:40 when you are palpating the thoracic spine, are you palpating the transverse process? Your thumps that you are using for the palpation are very near the spinous process, aren't they? Are the transverse Processes that near (the spinous process)? In my books there are 'rules' to find the TVPs, for example with interspinous spaces, depended on which thoracic vertebrae it is. Other books and studies say that the transverse Processes of a thoracic vertebrae is in the same plane as the spinous above it. Which method are you using Sir?
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 7 жыл бұрын
Hi! You have to be aware that every patient is different and has a different body and all anatomy books are lying. The exception is normal. This being said, with palpating between the SCM and Trap/Erector Spinae you are in the right spot. Regarding the thoracics: The vertebrae are surounded by a lot of tissue and muscle, so in fact when you are feeling the spinous only half of what you feel is the actual spinous, the rest is soft tissue. Since the transverse in the thoracics are not very long, you can establish this rule: If you are not in contact with the spinous while palpating next to it or when adjusting, you are not on the transverse but on the rib. When you see some guys take a contact a centimeter next to the spinous and claiming to adjust a thoracic, these guys are actually ratteling the ribs. When it comes to what transverse is next to what spinous the rule above applies again: everybody is different. Usually at T1 the transverse is next to the spinous, with T2 and T3 a little above. In the mid thoracics mostly the tip of the spinous is on the same plane as the transverse of the vertebra below. In the lower thoracics it can be two segments. But if you have seen a lot of spines you will see it is different with everybody. But in the end it does not matter. If you palpate the subluxation, you dont need to be 100% sure on what segment you actually are. The only guys who have this problem is those who use x-ray to decide where to adjust. I would never recommend that! Research has shown that it is very hard even with training to be sure on what segment you are. And than there are folks out there with 6 lumbars, 13 thoracics or 13 ribs. And that is acutally quite common! So if you palpate a subluxation it acutally is not important to be sure if you are on T10 or T11 if you are sure this is the spot where the nerve interference is. Hope that helps Mate! Cheers!

True. Like human system having to deal with environmental influences every day. Just depend on if you want a reset towards balance and upgrade your life regularly or if you rather have the stress of life accumulate in your system and have it slow down and slowly deteriorate. Chiropractic is all about unlocking human potential. As BJ Palmer stated: “While other professions are concerned with changing the environment to suit the weakened body, chiropractic is concerned with strengthening the body to suit the environment”

But I never stop working, training and researching to find even better ways. Better is the enemy of good. So my work is constantly evolving! It should! Life is movement, Chiropractic is about Life. I constantly try to get better results with less force and more specificity. What I do today is a whole different dimension than what I did than, and I kope what I will do in the future will upgrade the game even a lot more. Cheers!

Hi was wondering if there is anything can be done for a straight neck I have horrible headaches and sore shoulder ?? Some advice on self help would be greatly appreciated x
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 6 жыл бұрын
Hi! The answer is a clear Yes. The problem with the straight neck or loss of normal spinal curvature is not the bones itself, because bones do not do anything by themselves. It is also not the tense muscles pulling on the bones, because they too do not act by themselves. The problem is always in the nervous system telling the muscles how to contract which than move the bones. If your neck has lost its proper alignment than somehow your nervous system has lost the proper control over areas of the spine. Often the area has to compensate for some joint malfunctioning because of inproper nerve control and becomes straight because of that. The causal problem is often not where the obvious misalginment occurs. So the solution is helping your nervous system to optimally perceive and control your spine so it can go back to a more balanced alignment. This is exactly what a skilled Chiropractor who understands the underlying neurology does. We see a lot of people with issues like that and see them getting better. So there is hope for sure! Cheers!

American chiropractic schools are about 3 and 1/4 years after 4 years undergrad education. What type of education following the Abitur is required in Germany to become a chiropractor?
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 9 жыл бұрын
Aubree Med Traditional chiropractic has a history of many hundred years in Germany. When BJ Palmer studied x-ray in Dresden, Germany he also visited traditional german "Bonesetters" to check out their techniques. Regarding modern chiropractic today the german situation is a little different. German law only recognizes two legal professions that are allowed to treat people independently: Medical Doctors and Heilpraktiker (translates to Healingpractitioner and is something like a Doctor of Naturopathy). That means in order to legally practice modern chiropractic you have to become an HP. This consists of a general medical education with an alternative touch covering all medical knowledge about anatomy, physiology, neurology, pathology and law (just no drugs or surgery). This education is done in private schools, takes around 3 years and ends with a tough official government exam (written and oral). About 90% who try fail even though they studied for many years... After that HPs who want to specialize in chiropractic study chiropractic technique. There are institutions like the Chiropractic Campus in Hamburg covering basic technique systems like SOT, Thompson, Low Force, Diversified and such. Some practitioners like myself travel all over the world and learn the best methods from the best practitioners in the business. So its not that easy for us here. In 2014 we started a Masters of Science University program in Germany that covers advanced science and technique in relation to chiropractic and leads to a Master of Science in Chiropractic that is recognized all over Europe. This is a milestone! Practitioners who enter the program have at least 5 years extensive experience as full time chiropractic practitioners after the Abitur (and they have to be HPs). The Masters program than goes for 2 and a half years. So the whole education leading to an official university degree in chiropractic currently takes at least 7, 5 years. I hope that answers the question.

I have lost interest in German or amarican chiropractors in Germany ... I am asking myself, is this due to the the system?
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is a normal session. But if a chiropractor works you every visit from head to toe you can be sure that he has not understood chiropractic. Chiropractic is not a massage session to loosen up every joint. The aim is to restore proper function to the nervous system that controls every cell in the body. If you work with the nervous system less is more. You only want to adjust were it is really needed and than leave the system alone to rebalance and heal. If you give to much information into the system at places were it is not really needed, nothing will happen. The art is to find the right spots for that moment were the client is on the table. This is were the difference comes into play. If some just do the same moves up and down with everybody in an unspecific way, it has no power. In this video we did quite a lot, still not many adjustments in the spine were the nervous system is. I personally will rarely do more than 4 adjustments along the spine, but they will be at the right places. An extremity adjustment can be added to that, but only if it is really needed. And true healing takes time. Again, this is not a massage session. If you truly want to get rid of the stress that accumulated in your body throughout your life and causes disfunction, it is a smart idea to invest time and effort. All else is just treating the symptom, not adjusting the cause. Cheers!

@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 8 жыл бұрын
Hallo! Man braucht definitiv keine Beschwerden!

@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 9 жыл бұрын

why is the bed going up and down as he presses? and i didn't understand who won :D
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 9 жыл бұрын
alex pith The "bed" is a chiropractic drop-table. It has different sections that can be raised and drop down when a force by the chiropractors hands is applied to a motion segment (joint) of the client. It makes the adjustment more gentle since the table takes away most of the pressure when it drops. Still it makes the adjustment very effective because the joint moves more easily do to the drop effect of the table section. So its a win win: Gentle for the client while still very effective. We decided nobody won. We called it a draw. But of course you can decide for yourself. Cheers!

I have an asymmetrical face, my right face is lifted upward compared to left which makes me look my right eye, cheekbone, maxilla and mandible all higher compared to left side face, do you believe with the help of chiropractor I can achieve a facial symmetry? I want my face to get leveled meaning my eyes, cheekbones and jaw want to be even from both the sides
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 9 жыл бұрын
+Kratos This is actually not uncommon at all. Research of different Chiropractors (some of it over 60 years ago) has shown that fascial symmetry is affected by misalignments (subluxations) especially of the pelvis and also by misalignments of the spine. The alignment of the scull bones and therefore fascial symmetry can change significantly when the spine and pelvis are adjusted. in children this is observed almost instantaneously. When the symmetry of the scull is measured with a simple measurement tape it often changes to a great degree after the pelvis is adjusted. A chiropractor skilled in cranial adjusting can also use gentle techniques on the skull itself to help get it into better alignment after pelvis and spine are adjusted if needed. This being said, there is no guarantee that you will get the result you are hoping for. The chance that it will change is good, but your face might stay a little asymetric in the end if your body was used to and grew with the misalignments for a long time. Since the asymmetry is most often a sign of subluxation I would advice getting checked by a skilled chiropractor. Hope that helps! Cheers!
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 9 жыл бұрын
+Kratos Yes. I personally wouldnt advice any of these two techniques. To me ABC is to mechanistic in nature, misses some of the most important structures and has some biomechanical flaws in it. NR inflates a balloon in the nose to affect the spenoid bone. To me this is to invasive, again to mechanistic and not anatomically sound. And it is not chiropractic. Also like I told you the asymmetry is often not caused in the scull but just manifests there. Of course it is always dependent on the practicioner not just on ghr technique. I would look for one of the following methods: Kiso Method, MC2 Technique, Koren Specific Technique, Torque Release Technique or a good traditional Gonstead practcioner. If more intensive care of the scull is needed at some point I would prefer the CATS Method. Hope that helps!

Quite similar regarding time even though there are differences between countries. In Germany the route to a Master of Science in Chiropractic degree takes around 6 to 7 years. Internationaly a chiropractic education ranges usually somewhere between 4 and 6 years.

@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 5 жыл бұрын
Would you rather have a harder adjustment if a softer one creates not even equal but better results? I rather work minimally invasive with maximum results. The only reason I ever change my technique is if I find something more effective. If you are very fast and/or develop a very clear feeling for the right direction in the right moment, you can adjust with ease and wonderful results. Adjusting forceful is easy and not very comfortable. Also regarding the results: If you force it on the body by doing something to it instead of with it, you will not help to create miracles. Cheers!
