This cake has an interesting history. Going way back to 1852 and an English American named Samuel German. He worked for Baker's Chocolate company and came up with a sweeter baking chocolate and called it Baker's sweet German chocolate. 105 years later a housewife in Dallas came up with a cake recipe and called it German's sweet Chocolate Cake

My neighbor made this for her family's Thanksgiving dinner and brought me a piece of it. I was never a fan of German Chocolate Cake cause the one's I'd had were dry. BUT then I ate this piece AND I'm a fan now. I'd even use the cake recipe and use a cream cheese icing. Absolutely the best. Thanks.
