Here in southern USA our driving test it just drive around the block, know what a stop sign is, and know how to use a blinker. 5 minutes then you're legally allowed to drive , it frightens me, and also shows me why we have such bad drivers over here

As a southerner who got their license at first in Mississippi I totally agree with this. I also got my motorcycle license in MIssissippi as well. They literally made me do less on my motorcycle driving test than my normal driving test. Pretty scary lmao.

Tbh driving in US itself is much easier, more space for cars, abundance of 4 way stop signs, automatic transmission. Pedestrians will almost always used designated crossings. You can keep going straight unless a sign tells you to stop. Also I would argue that Driving in US is neither a right nor a privilege but a necessity as public transport is lackluster Thus it makes more sense to put an overkill amount of road signs and popularize auto-transmission to help noobs drive safe rather than make the test tougher.

Took my second driving lesson in germany yesterday, never drove before and havent been here long from the uk. Went to a carpark and within minutes the instructor told me its not worth it and to continue out onto the roads right away! A good sign I think but man its scary and to most wouldnt seem much different when you look but believe me when you drive, the rules, ways and roads are so different its unreal but im not thinking about the uk when I do the lessons, im acting solely on my first ever lessons and germany, I think not remembering or thinking about the differences or the uk roads and rules stuff (or where ever you are from if you start lessons here) really helps alot. Next I am going to narrow streets with lots of right before left side roads and other obstacle and rules, gonna be stressy but i look forward to it, thanks for uploading this video and anyone else who uploads similar, im sure they help far more people out than you realise!

Am loving my driving lessons, the thing with me is though I suffer from anxiety but it is not the driving that causes it, it stems from past issues and I had it long before ever driving a car and so anyway one day my driving lesson is perfect and I make not a single mistake, the next I forget and do not notice even the most basic signs, even changing gear and all sorts but it is not the driving, it is because when my anxiety goes up, my focus is all about controlling or trying to control it and everything else comes second to that including knowing what I am even doing. It is so frustrating because when my anxiety is not there, my driving and alertness is good enough to pass an exam although I am only on lesson 9 and so could not take one yet, and I think it is better that I do not as I am still enjoying seeing new signs and new situations as one day a street is completely different in terms of traffic and difficulty than say the next day. Watching these help a lot because my driver instructor cannot speak any English what so ever and so we cannot have talks or discuss any of a lesson which frustrates us both I think and not just me, although I try and speak as much German as I can, it is often not heard or understood lol but more frustrating than this is the clarification to as why something is better or done, than not or vice versa not being given, watching these videos helps give me clarification about some things that happen or I see in my own lessons here that perhaps I did not understand. Enjoyable watch, thank you for uploading, even though it is 8 years ago, this video still helps people today :o) I also like watching them when perhaps I have had a bad lesson or made some mistakes because I realise it is normal and for lesson 9 I am not as far behind as sometimes I allow myself to think, I am realising having bad lessons even later than perhaps previous ones is perfectly ok and normal. Only a couple of areas I really must work on more as I still have a habbit of indicating and then checking my mirrors, especially if not turning at all during the indication, I tend to indicate first and early and then check my mirrors and shoulder check just prior to the turn, the last thing which is often a problem is I feel pressured from drivers behind even when I am at the limit or I am worried about others far to much or what they think about me in a learner car, not sure what it is but it gets better. I will say that the walking speed areas when I first moved to Germany seemed silly to me as it is so slow and some of those areas are not small, they are big housing areas and so driving through them at walking speed can take a very long time, but then I bought a house inside a walking speed area and I love it, it makes perfect sense, my little son can ride his bike in the streets with us and everything feels safe lol Walking speed streets are great :O)

If you think German drivers look angry when they're driving, you should go anywhere in the USA specially Florida, then you will meet angry, super aggressive drivers! I have been in Germany for 9 years, they are not angry drivers they are people who take driving very seriously because is a big responsibility, as it should be. They do however like to educate others who are not driving as they should. I love the fact they dont carry guns as they do in the USA. ICH LIEBE DEUTSCHLAND!
@PascalGienger7 жыл бұрын
Here in NYC I see angry drivers mostly when other drivers create dangerous situations. NYC drivers let you in into their lane when they see that you want to turn left. Even in absolute rush hour. Smiling is the key. Driving education in Germany is way more sophisticated and road tests are harder. But Germany is the only country in Western Europe not having introduced the Learners' permit, where you may drive with a supervisor (a driver with a valid license) to get experience. Spain, France, Belgium - they all have it. Even Switzerland. In Germany you may only book lessons with a driving instructor unless you get your driving license.
@oussematrabelsi94296 жыл бұрын
Cringe. Most American drivers ok and there is nothing wrong with guns. Also if you are an actual American you would know that most Americans don't carry guns with them as that's illegal in most states except the south like texas and Alabama.
@immermitderruhe5 жыл бұрын
@@oussematrabelsi9429 But the big disadventage of liberal gun laws is that the police is way more aggressive in traffic controls etc since they have to approach every car driver as if they have a gun under the seat. Here in Germany and Europe in general the police is pretty relaxed during such situations.
@JesseLockeHere2Do4 жыл бұрын
@@immermitderruhe I'm 55 years old. I've been driving since I was 16. You're right. It absolutely does make a difference in how the police officer approaches the car. Many officers are killed at traffic stops. However, I've been a gun owner for more than 30 years and a legal concealed carrier for more than 20 years. I'm an African American male and I've been stopped by police many times because I used to drive too fast. Btw, not one time have I been mistreated, at least to my knowledge. Just being polite and respectful I've avoided getting a ticket several times when I was clearly in the wrong.

During my first test, I didn't have to answer any questions and didn't have to do any emergency braking. But I failed because I drove over a bus lane to turn around (trivial thing, but ignoring signs means instant failure). Only the second time I had to answer a technical question (Lenkradspiel, how much tolerance the steering wheel is allowed to have), but still no emergency braking test. So, your mileage may vary :)

This video has inspired me for my future career choice, I think :) I speak fluent German, English and Italian, maybe I could become an instructor :D But I'm 18 and got my drivers license 4 days ago, so maybe I should wait a little 😅

I would say we have it harder in the UK. Our driving test is very strict.

Those German roads look so beautiful compared to the average American road.

And the average road in the north of England :( the highways are fine but the city roads are just awful up here
@oussematrabelsi94296 жыл бұрын
Because they have smaller cars and trucks. Also American roads are much wider than german roads. Their highways are basically city roads here in america

@@tonak4949 yes, because we all know what happened last time when Deutschland invested a lot in military.
