I’m really starting to appreciate these weird, second tier German WW2 rifles, they’re very interesting and under appreciated. I used to have a German/Hungarian G98/40 that I foolishly sold cheap around 2012….I REALLY wish I still had that rifle.

The hollowed out recoil lug might be for the bolt take down since it doesn’t have the usual stock disc.

Had a buddy I shoot with ask me if I wanted to buy a mauser. He knows I like a lot of milsurps so he he brings me the 660 code and I thought it looked different. Thanks to this video. Everything checked out and is a g12/34. Mismatched bolt

I have a Mexican Mauser rifle in 7mm that is made by Steyr and the Mexican crest is stamped with the year 1910.

That's one tough rifle to find if you are looking for one...especially all matching. Too bad about the bolt and yes you are correct...the bolt is different than the standard 98k bolt. Most people don't know that. Glad you found it.

Looks like a VZ24 but with a turned down bolt handle…. There’s differences in the nose cap, but it really has a VZ24 look to it.

Also, it'd make a pretty cool video for you to do a brief rundown of each of the firearms on your display wall...just a thought.

Interesting how your Austrian rifle's production dates roughly mirror the Finnish Winter War. I wonder if there's any connection.

Friend of mine from Texas bought one of these a few years ago had some stock issues but it was listed as Spanish Air Force rifle lol. He got a really good deal for it. The very few I have seen for sale start at around $4000 and up. I'm curious if you own a G24t and a G98/40 as well? I saw your video on the G33/40 so you have that one down. Of course I also like collecting the German depot captured stuff too!

Good for you did not know you had the G98/40 already. I did own a Polish Radom Crest 29/40 kriegsmarine marked stock and disk at one time. Sold it to a friend of mine. The G24t can be tough to locate as well especially still matching. Of course you can get lost in German captured equipment as well! German depot marked R35 lebels, Italian rifles, Danish and Norwegian krags, Greek, dutch, Polish, and so many more

It was a goal of mine to get all the XX/40 rifles. I've moved from collecting German rifles to German pistols recently.

There's a weird line with English speaking collectors where some things we have to pronounce perfectly in the other language but some things we do not, like the ö.
