Great build, and excellent video. That little tank model came out looking great! One comment: I believe that when the Panzerfaust came into use, in mid-1943, the 38t was obsolete and no longer in use by the Wehrmacht. You should remove them from the stowage on the rear deck.

Yeah, German grey is tricky, mainly because it's so close to black without actually getting there, and one issue I have with a lot of modellers is that they paint it way too light; early war tanks were very well maintained and thus kept their color, so forget sun-bleach, and for that matter, spots of rust as well - during ww2 tanks were painted with lead-based paint which is hard as hell, and they didn't bother with thin layers either - I think 1/10 mm thickness of paint could be applied all in all with primer, base and varnish (yes, tanks had a certain glossy sheen to them), and it's pretty difficult to wear that down, except where there's a lot of traffic, ie around hatches, and they you would mainly have bare metal, not rust per se. Also, what is it with modellers and rusting up the muffler? It came painted from the factory and even if the metal was cheap and thin, it still took some time for the paint to burn off (calling it rust is not quite right, since its caused by heat, and rust as we know it is caused by moisture).
@smc-22 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your valuable opinion. As for the rust on the muffler, I used the rust on my bike's muffler as a reference. Whether or not it was appropriate is subjective to the person who sees it, so it's very difficult for a modeler. We will use your comments for future reference. Thank you for your comment.🍰
@seorwulf1049 Жыл бұрын
The skill involved in this model and its finishing is outstanding and far beyond anything I could achieve but I agree with you, I find so many modelers these days get really carried away with the techniques at the expense of realism ( which is of course personal choice) the war only lasted 5 years and not many tanks made it the full period, I have not been able to find any historical pictures that show rusting and especially chipping to the extent modelers seem to want to go to these days. As you mention many still look close to brand new with mud and grease (on running gear) being the only major "weathering apparent". Still, as I said - it's a personal choice thing I guess.
