I opened this video wondering "who is this guy"(Fan Zhendong), and I can already see he has the small, compact powerful strokes that Ma Long incorporates, the mid-distance game Zhang Jike has, and he makes shots by contorting his body instead of moving his feet, just like Ma Lin. Genius player really, well deserved win. Thanks for the upload.

Fan Zhendong is something else. It's like he puts pressure on all of his shots and has perfect feel for the ball on all his shots, offense and defense. Seeing his results even against his Chinese companions, I see that there would be now surprise if he became the world champion next year. He's got some major talent and it's incredible to watch.

Thanks TTCountenance for posting this. I watched the ITTF match today in non HD - don't know why they do that. Anyway this Fzd. He's the real deal. The kid has won $26K in 1 week. Not bad for a 16 year old. He demolished Zhang Jike to get to the final. That said, recently Ma Lin demolished him in a Chinese Super League match. He will be a future #1 and world champion. No doubt about it.

fan zhendong has a really strong back hand like zhang jike ,especially the flicks but with a powerful and more agressive forehand like ma long and he is super fast

omg, its so insane how good Fan Zhendong is for his age. He is like way better than even Ma Long was when Ma Long was his age. Ma Long was insanely good even at age 16, but his game was almost blindly offensive. Fan's game is offensive, but his game is more sophisticated and has more depth than what Ma Long's was at that age.

Dima wasn't ranked 1st in 2013. He was ranked 1st at the beginning of 2018. The match you probably mean was when FZD beat Dima 4-0 at the World Tour Grand Finals 2017 when it was already clear that Dima would become world rank one come January.
