I just found your channel and I’m super excited. Being raised in a German/Irish family, my mom cooked a lot of traditional German meals for my father. My Oma taught me how to make homemade raisin or plain bread. But, my memories are from making zvetchinkuchen, (I know I spelt it wrong, Plum cake. I used to tell people it was plum pizza, lol. You make it almost just like my Oma, we just don’t stand them up on the dough. I remember making this and it was gone in hours, I was the youngest of 5 with 3 older brothers and my sister being the oldest. They loved it, I haven’t made it for at least 25 yrs and I’m making it now, I can’t wait. Thank you for your channel, I will be following.

Hallo Anja, danke fuer das Video. Ich habe lange keinen Pflaumenkuchen gemacht, das hat mich wieder auf die Idee gebracht. Manchmal kann man bei Costco frische italienische Prunes bekommen, wenn man Glueck hat, die sind wie die deutschen Zwetschgen. Muss ich mal auf meine Liste tun. Pflaumenkuchen ist einfach lecker! :)

When I lived in the states, I never had difficulty finding my favorite plums. Right now I have to split time between the U.S and my parents home country, where plums are too costly to buy enough. The recipe looks amazing and I hope to be able to try it when I return.

Mmmmm... looks so yummy! I have two royal blue plum trees - that bear smaller, oval shaped and densely fleshed fruit -wonderful for baking with. I will definitely try your recipe. Thank you for sharing it!

When we lived in Germany as a child, I became accustomed to the European plums...which have an entirely different texture to Western plums. I find them occasionally here in the states...but not often. It's interesting to see you using Santa Rosa plums.

I am using Santa Rosa plums because neighbors and friends give me bags full. Plum butter will be next. I planted a prune tree in our garden but it will be a few years before we will get enough to make cakes (or Pflaumenmus) 😊 ~ Anja
