Incredibly smart but require knowledgeable owners who are willing to put in the work. You’re the perfect owner for this precious pup!

We adopted our 1 year old GSP from the humane society a few months ago and it has been the most amazing journey. He wasn't house trained, was 20 lbs overweight, had had terrible separation anxiety. Since august we've spent almost every day running him and going to large dog parks (several 5+ acre wooded ones nearby). He has been a sweetheart to train, not without its difficulties, but truly so rewarding. I have fallen in love with breed and agreed with everything you said! Also noting we are in a 1 bedroom apartment but with all the exercise, it hasnt been an issue! Thanks so much for sharing all this info and your experience!

Over the years we have rescued 3 GSPs. So great with the family and always an adventure outdoors (parks, nature preserves).

I love the long docked tail. The short dock isn’t as nice a look. GSP is one of the best breeds I’ve ever known. Great dogs.

GSP are also good dancing dogs...I wanted to teach the foster dog to dance. He was good at spinning and backward walking.

He is so cute!! Where I live unfortunately this breed is one of the most neglected/abused and abandoned as people just use them for excessive hunting and don’t actually look after them😓

Wow! I’ve never heard of that before, that’s sad. What country?

I live in the Canary Islands in Lanzarote . Pointers and a breed called podencos and Ferrets here are sadly almost always just used for hunting, and severely neglected and abused and just not looked after at all. The dog shelter here is full of them breeds

@PazuandFriends Thank you for your educational video on Marshall Farms. I was unaware that these people where basically monsters who mass produce animals including ferrets and according to my vet they are actually the only major breeder for ferrets in America. Now I purchased my ferret at Petco this was before I knew they where getting these little guys from a puppy mill/laboratory. Thankfully my ferret is in great health and has no underlining issues as of right now and I am praying he won’t in the future. But I took him straight to this wonderful vet who has worked with ferrets for years cause I wanted an overall health check along with looking at his ears cause I though he may have ear mites. Which thankfully he didn’t they where just extremely dirty from the farm. And found he was much younger than what I was told. ( Which I suspected given how small and thin he was and the fact he had issues eating solid food and needed it wetted down) So instead of being 12 weeks he is actually 8-10 weeks according to the vet. Now I don’t regret getting him bc now he can have the life he deserves and will be treated like a king in my home and won’t live his life alone in a cage. But I thought it was quite sad that nobody really handled him. Bc he was quite nippy when I first got him and kinda shy away from people touching him. Which I know that breeders can’t always give a bunch of one on one time but not touching them at all is sad. But I will never purchase anything from Marshall’s again and if I decide on getting him a sibling I will be sure it’s someone with a good reputation. ( Side Note: Didn’t know those little dots on his ear where a tattoo from the farm which is sad by the way until you mentioned it. So thank you bc I thought it was a birthmark or something didn’t know he was cruelly branded like that and they must of done it when he was a wk old which is awful.) Love your videos and keep spreading the message

If per say you had livestock like poultry, which is similar to what they'd hunt. Is it possible to train them to differentiate between the two?
@Pazuandfriends3 жыл бұрын
Definitely, I've seen very successful "barn dog" GSPs when trained well :)

I don't know what to say without being unrespectful .....perhaps in the US there are not hunting GSP breeds, but after 2 decades of the experience with these wonderful, powerful HUNTING DOGS I think we do it right here in Germany. These DOGS only get sold to HUNTERS with a official license!
