Besides, there were a lot of Germans that HATED Hitler too, but had to fight with him because they didn’t want to be killed. Like a man once said, “History is written by the victor”.

This is the intresting thing about both world wars, people tend to forget in the modern age that every game-like "goon" is a human being, that even the "bad guys" are hurting from everything, that each shot hurts someone wether it misses or hits. You really need to realize that a Wehrmacht soldier or German citizen's personal relationship with Nazi ideology varied greatly. Adherence to the racial component of the ideology was present, however was not the sole reason for the carrying out of mass executions of Eastern European and Slavic populaces. Much of it was so that the tense relationship between the Wehrmacht and Hitler would not be severed during the middle of global conflict. The Wehrmacht gave their oath of personal loyalty as a gamble: they hoped that if they promised to operate in Hitler's name, he would grant great autonomy to the army- developing a similar power dynamic to that of the Prussian army and government. When this backfired, tensions between Wehrmacht higher-ups and Hitler rosen until they culminated in Operation Valkyrie in 1944. It wasn't even so much that officers disagreed with mass executions and the racial aspects from a moralistic standpoint- they thought that it was detrimental and counterintuitive to what was most important to them: winning the war.

@tavish46992 жыл бұрын
the camps didnt have a 2 kilometer military restricted area around for no reason they were itterary built in nowhere so nobody would find out why do yo uthink it all happened in the far east of poland ? how would a regular man or even a soldier who has even less information of whats going on know of such things not to forget oyu have way more important things to think about then the neigbor that used to live next to you in your childhood

Calm down, guys, you don't need to break your own ankles running to the support of German troops in WW2. Of course the truth is complicated and varies from person to person, but the German people buy and large supported if not loved Hitler and really believed in many of the things he promised. Go watch Generation War, there's an excellent quote from it from the perspective of a German soldier 'I said it before - this war would bring out the worst in us'.

@EpicMRPancake5 жыл бұрын
@@calebmayfield8474 Was it that closely hidden, though? He made no secret of exactly how he felt about the various peoples he hated, he had numerous speeches, and wrote a book on it. The German people couldn't really do a surprised pikachu face when they elected someone who reflected and exaggerated how they were feeling after the First World War and the Great Depression.

maybe instead of discussing about ww2 and if the germans were aware of what they did ( soviets were even worse ), you guys should discuss about ww1 and if the ENTENTE countries ( btw look how ridiculous this is, i cant even name all the countries because they were so many taking part in that, like half the world ) what the entente countries did in ww1 to germany and with versailles ... spoiler : they were not aware of it back then, and they are mostly STILL not aware of it TODAY. and also look at the cold war, vietnam war, iraq, lybia, afghanistan, and all the things that soviets/russians and americans did. The stupid wars just keept going and germany didnt take part in wars anymore, but the other countries continue from ww2 until today. That should tell you something ...
@DalYeosin Жыл бұрын
@@songohan4051 Yes.. because from then on we were forbidden to further expand our military and today everyone is surprised and insults us why we don't immediately pass this and that on to Ukraine. We've been doing our best since then to show something different than the Nazi era.. but a lot of people still hate us to this day and it's... frankly painful to be honest.

@Alex 15 could be possible. Even the SS recruited just 16 y old for combat. There is one good german movie called "Die Brücke (1959)". The story is about some high school students at the end of the war. One SS Officer came to them and ask them for support. Everyone who is 16 can join the army. One boy said: "But I'm only 15 but I want to fight!". The film was renewd 2008. Feel free to watch it!

It should be noted that the Czech had their best time during the nazis. It was bad before and even worse after the nazis. They are still behind. And it was the English and the Poles that refused to negotiate !
