All wars are horrible, but the misery suffered in WWI by all the soldiers that fought in that conflict was very tragic. We should remember the sacrifices made by a whole generation of young men sent off to war, including my own grandfather. May they rest in peace and let us hope the bitter lessons of the past are not forgotten.

Karl Sternau thank you so much for these covers. my grandfather just died yesterday at 4:48pm. before he died, this is the very last song my grandfather heard and also the last one he heard me sing. to me, this song is no longer just a song. it is a memory that will follow me until my eventual grave.. he also died at the day my dad had his birthday too.
