I was married to a lovely German girl from Ingolstadt for 61 years until God wanted her more than I did. I learned to sit to pee minutes after our honeymoon. @@papplebeast5039 Well, speaking as a female, I've often thought how lucky men have it to have the convenience of turning their backs and standing to pee if the need arose with not even a shrub to hide behind. For women, it is much more inconvenient when a restroom is not available. (This is, I'm pretty sure, one of the worst aspects of camping for women.) And as I get older, and have to be on my feet at work more than feels good many days, I begin to think of a sit-down pee break as a little luxury that most men miss out on. I know that I am the exception among men in my societal experience. On the other hand when I was in Germany a couple of years ago I was impressed beyond words by the urinals. I'm from Norway and was taught to stand up, but when I started helping in cleaning the toilet at around 12-13, I started always sitting down. I have always preferred standing, but it's not worth having to clean the stains. Whenever there is a urinal in a public bathroom, I will use that instead, because it is much more comfortable, quick and easy. It really feels like it is taboo in Norway, and when my mom yelled at me for getting stains on the floor once, she did not believe me when I told her it couldn't be me since I sit down(It was my dad's fault, but it is very rare for him to leave stains on the floor, so she thought it was me).

I do pee standing and use the urinal at work and basically at all public places and I also pee standing out in the wild, far away from humanity, using a three (or something else). I did refuse to sit down while peeing for quite some time when I was younger, up to my late teenage years. I was always careful, but realized that I underestimated the micro spay effect of peeing. At some point I could smell it and a little bit later I had to replace a heater, that was close to the toilet, because it became rusty and all of the protective paint was ruined. As an American who lived in Germany for two years, there are a few more differences on this topic than you mentioned in the video, but then I wouldn't have expected you to be aware of them. I'm not going to mention all of them because I do not know how I would explain one without being inappropriate, but just a couple come immediately to mind: . Urinals? What urinals. Every men's facility I saw had a designated wall with a trough and a drain in the floor. Some of the nicer ones had water that would flow down the wall like a sanitary water feature, usually at widely spaced intervals. . Cleaning ladies would wander in and out performing their chores. I heard one or two men grumble about it once, but in most cases no one, including me, cared about it. . Sit down at home, absolutely. Urine splashes on everything, including the clothes and shoes you are wearing. The acidity of urine is high enough that it will blister paint and stain wood. In time, even the microscopic droplets that mist the air will damage walls and floors, and not great for your shoes. You might be nose-blind to the smell, but your visitors aren't. . In a public restroom the facilities are there, so sure, use them. Some men are shy enough that they won't use the urinals and would rather use the toilet stalls, but then leave the seat down and go standing up. Hey, this isn't a cesspool, sit down, raise the seat, or use the urinal. If you are squeamish and don't want to touch the seat to raise it, then think about the next person who has to clean it off, or have to bypass that unit altogether.

As a guy in the US, it's perfectly accepted and almost expected that guys will stand up to pee. More what we run into here is putting the lid up when we do so and back down when we're done. Also, good aim is advocated and cleaning up if the aim isn't so good. While I agree, most guys seem to not pee standing up cleanly and it does make sense what you're saying, it's almost just as strange for a guy to admit to prefer sitting to pee. THAT SAID -- and this is kind of funny to admit -- I have enjoyed many a sit-down pee at home. Not because I've lost my manhood or because my wife is on me about it BUT because of three reasons. 1). Morning pees for most guys go better when sitting, if you don't understand why, ask one of your guy friends, they'll explain. 2). I have realized that stand-up pees can indeed be "spashy" and I don't like the smell of dried urine more than anyone else. 3). It's kind of nice. LOL. Probably most guys wouldn't admit this but peeing standing up involves a lot of concentration. Sometimes sitting down and letting it flow in complete relaxation isn't so bad, plus, when you well, um, shake the excess out, it's more contained. There you go!

One of my favorite German words! Sitzpinkeler! I never thought you’d do a video about it though...I think the preference pertains to if it is your own home toilet. No one has a urinal at home in US or DE. When the toilet is shared between the two genders, women seem to prefer/demand that the toilet seat is left down. Apparently I’ve been told they some times “forget” to check that it’s down, which is silly and perhaps one deserves to see the consequence which will help ensure she always checks. Most Women I know wipe after peeing, men don’t, we “shake the snake” (wie sagt mann das auf Deutsch). This results in more random drops in spots other than the toilet bowel. For that reason at home ich bin Sitzpinkeler. Guys can shake the snake harder when sitting and not have pee droplets go everywhere.

I’m American, but I’ll always remember my father’s saying when I was a child in the bathroom “If you can hit it, sit on it ! “. So ever since then I’ve considered it sanitary and polite to sit rather than stand at a residence, but I will of course use a urinal at public restrooms.

However, I didn't think that men painting their nails and carrying cute little purses would catch on here either. I'm so glad I found your channel, Feli. This was unexpected and great.

Honestly, as a German who also grew up in the 90s and early-to-mid 2000s, I have always peed standing up, and up until watching this video, I had always assumed that men who sit down to pee were a tiny minority, like maybe 15-20%, so this *really* surprised me.

I agree. Also while standing if you arch your back just a little it seems to get the pee juices flowing better. A better steady pee flow. I think men were designed or built more for standing and peeing.

Same in America, sitting down is emasculating. Also it's common courtesy to leave a urinal gap between another dude, unless there are dividers. You are NEVER supposed to make eye contact or look over at someone while using a urinal. Men don't talk to each other if they are both going pee. You have to keep distance from the urinals or toilets if you do talk. The most important rule of all, NEVER drop your pants.
@sailorcat4 жыл бұрын
And do you agree with that sterotype that it's feminine? Cause I think it's completely ridiculous.

@AcaciaStrain82 What's your problem? Anime are just TV shows and they have a very wide variety of genres and themes, like American shows. There are also shows for adults with complex themes. You can't generalize anime since they are very different from one another! Just let people watch and do whatever they want, because it's not affecting you at all!

I am American. I think generally what I have noticed in American culture is peeing standing up is considered more masculine. Sitting down is for the ladies. With that said, I do both depending on how much time I have and my mood. If I am in a rush it is always standing up. If I am worried about germs, I stand up. If I am feeling lazy or just want a relaxing bathroom session, I sit. Being introverted, sometimes I feel the bathroom is a place you can go to have a moment to yourself and regroup, so I always do that sitting down. I have told other men I sit down to pee and I do get weird looks sometimes. So it is interesting that Germans prefer sitting down!
@arkadianriver4 жыл бұрын
The conflict is at a worse level in America. Here its whether you put the seat up or leave it down when you pee standing. It's usually only in cases where the seat has a notch in front. Some men think the notch is there to allow them to pee with the lid still down. Gross.
@mikecowen65074 жыл бұрын
You must have some unusual friends. In my 56 years, I've *NEVER* met a guy who would pee standing up with the seat down. You just don't. Anything else is nasty! Now, leaving the seat up when finished has definitely started many arguments!
@voiceofaliens4 жыл бұрын
This is true; that's the typical argument, to leave seat up or down after for the lady who might come in afterward, but yes... I've noticed it a few times in the last few years in men's rooms.. me not hearing seats go up or down, noticing pee on the seats after, and guys not washing hands. I, too, hadn't noticed it in my 55 years until a few years ago.

I’m a switch hitter, depends on the situation. If I’m tired or want to kill time I sit down, but any other time I typically stand. Also depends on urinal or tree/bush availability. Also, it shouldn’t be a bad thing to stand and pee as long as you have good aim and clean up your misfires.

Just discovered your channel today, Feli, and am delighted to offer my opinion on men standing or sitting to pee. As a child, born and brought up in the USA, I was taught to pee standing up. That lasted until I moved out of my parents' home and became responsible for cleaning my own bathroom. It instantly became apparent how much water and urine get splashed out of the toilet when I peed standing, so I became a sitxpinkler making my bathroom significantly easier to keep clean and sanitary.

Years ago I was wearing shorts and when I peed standing up, I could feel tiny drops of water hitting my legs. I decided right then it was UNsanitary to stand. I have been sitting ever since. One lady from my church had six sons, she posted a sign for them to sit because with six of them, the area around the toilet could get messy in just one day.

I don’t know if these men are trying to show off or really do think it’s longer than it is, but it’s gross.
