4^x = 2^(2x) = 36 = 4(9) 2^(2x - 2) = 9 2x - 2 = (log9)/(log2) = (2log3)/(log2) x = 1 + (log3)/(log2)

why don't ve get both sides' log4 instead of log10 lol

Probably because the log of 10 base 10 is much harder to check back into the equation when you’re trying to evaluate whether the answer is right. 4^1 is much easier to evaluate than 4^log10 would be.
