@@tanck09 we rented a car and drove so that we could explore and stop where we pleased. There is a regional train from Innsbruck that goes this way (we crossed the tracks to have a picnic), but I'm not sure if it interfaces with the Bavarian regional trains in either Fussen or Garmisch. I do know that you can take a train from Innsbruck to München though.

Y'all are far and away the best travel videos I've watched. To be fair, I guess, I haven't watched that many, but it's because I tend to find them moderately insufferable! (The really personal ones are less so, but also not the most useful or easy to watch. I have nothing against a couple of happy people showing off their great trip to [where ever], but also it's not that useful or the most fun to watch.) In contrast, your videos ended up essentially being the backbone to the plan I have for the trip I'm taking next April, and you're making me want to start planning another trip already to go to places that I can't fit into a single 2-week vacation! BTW the details about HOW to get to places are something that almost no one seems to do; thank you! Edit: I just saw someone else's comment about suggestions for clothing for different seasons, and I echo that. We're from Texas and all of our clothes are basically, "Okay so is it 80 degrees and humid or 105 degrees and humid?"
@NearFromHome2 жыл бұрын
Wow thank you so much! This really REALLY means a lot. You basically reiterated exactly how we feel about the current state of travel KZbin. Most of the popular travel channels seem to be lifestyle or family vlogs, and not actually guides (as many of them claim to be). I also agree, that that's fine, but their trips usually seem kinda low quality/poorly planned. We have gone on vacation so many times, and realised how poorly represented so many vacation destinations are by YT travel vlogs. You can't rely on them. Travel blogs are still the way to go. Anyway, thanks for the really nice comment. Will consider talking more about clothing for traveling in Germany. I think we have taken that information for granted.

Hey guys, cracking video of my favorite Bavarian place, we are going back again in June for 7 nights at Ferienhaus Heimhof, right at the base for the Keuzeckbahn, we stayed there in May this year, well recommended, an interesting point is as a guest there it includes a free local bus pass for your stay, how cool is that especially as the bus stops right out side the apartment's at the ski lift every half hour, obviously a day trip to your home town of Munich will be on the cards as i want to vist the war museum on the out skirts.( and have some beer.) keep up the good work.

That’s true for our more compilation style videos, yes! Which is why we make them. Though for our videos where we try to take you along with us we naturally show a lot of ourselves. The goal is for the two styles to comportment each other. The style from this video is about making a lot of recommendations quickly, but without going too deep into detail. Whereas the more traditional vlog style aim to make you feel like you’ve come along with us, and we show all the detail that we can. I hope you stick around for both styles!!

It'll be somewhere between 35f and 53f around late October during the day and humidity should be close to 70-80% average. Hey guys, I really love your videos. I'm bringing my family of 3 to Munich on the first leg of a three country European trip at the end of May. We will only be in Munich for most of 3 days. With the second leg of our trip being to Interlaken, Switzerland and the Swiss Alps, would you recommend heading down to Garmisch Partenkirchen for a day trip, or is our short time better served exploring the city of Munich?
@NearFromHome Жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you like! If you are a city traveler, you could probably find enough stuff to do in Munich in three days. I personally don't love city traveling, so I would recommend taking a day trip to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Luckily we have a while playlist of activity in the town if you decide to visit!

Is it possible to combine Zugspitze and Eibsee in one day? Can I rent a bike from the bottom of the Zugspitze peak tram and bike to the lake?
@NearFromHome6 ай бұрын
YES definitely. The Zugspitze gondola and lake are next to each other. I don't know if there is a bike rental next to the Zugspitze. We rented ours in GP.

I am so confused on the train passes. What is the best options if we plan on going from munich to other towns on different days?
@NearFromHome9 ай бұрын
You can buy the Bayern ticket. It allows you to use any public transportation in Bavaria (except for ICE) for the day. You could also buy a Deutschland ticket. It is 49 euros for the month. It allows you to use any public transport in Germany (except ICE) for the month. It is really only for locals, so there are a few hurdles you ave to pass, but also some work arounds. I would check it out!

Amazing playlist, I am off to Garmisch this weekend and your video helped a lot. Just wanted to get an idea of the range of e-bikes, I have lots of places marked down for a 3 day stay, was wondering if e-bikes would help to cover them all. Eibsee, Geroldsee etc etc. Not in a single day, but still wanted to get an idea of the range. Also, do they allow to keep bicycles overnight?

Can you please expand on your bike ride to Ebisee Lake? I am intereseted. On they note I would love your honest opinion on the Romantic Road, cycling it. Your opinion and/or video experience would be beneficial.

I have no idea about cycling the Romantic road, unfortunately. I'm sure its great though. All the towns on the road are beautiful, and Germans take cycling and cycle infrastructure very seriously.

About 19 years ago, in 2003, I took a train from Munich to a train station which I could not remember which one now, and then walked for some time like maybe 30 mins to an hour which I could not remember how long too, and then came to this mountain which I could not recall the name for many years and took the gondola up to its peak. I vaguely remember it's name is short. When your video mentioned Mount Wank, I instantly recall this was it! Lol. What is the name of the train station close to this area? I really could not remember.
@NearFromHome2 жыл бұрын
Hahahah glad to have been of service. The closest train station is the Garmisch-Partenkirchen station. Mt Wank is a 40 min walk or ten minute bus ride from there

Eibsee is definitely on my list for next month's trip, as it is indeed highly praised for photography. Definitely doing that hike around the lake you mention in your vid! Though I'll be starting from a different mountain town that is perhaps a bit less known, but also comes very highly recommended: Oberstdorf (with mount Nebelhorn right next to it and Rubihorn and the Unterer Geisalpsee very close to it). Think it's about the same distance from Munich as it would be to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but a bit less touristy.

But apart from the last one these are the tourist spots everybody knows ;-). If you want to go to spots that usually only locals go you might have to go to the Isar river before it goes into Sylvenstein lake which is also beautiful apart from the car bridge. Or you go to Walchensee, a lake usually only locals go to. Or visit the monastery in Ettal where the monks still wear traditional robes. Also if you want to go skiing the Alpspitze and Hausberg are way better than Zugspitze. The Alpspitze is also beautiful in the summer.
@NearFromHome Жыл бұрын
Yeah, this video is really just to introduce beginners specifically to Garmisch itself. We get these questions all the time from people making their first trip to Germany, and this is a reasonable place to start. Though your suggestions are good, they definitely aren’t in Garmisch, they are just a little too far for me to put them in a video like this, nor would I broadly recommend them to every single person. That being said we have covered Walchensee and Ettal. So I hope you stick around, watch some of our deeper videos and share us with your friends!

How long was the bike ride to the lake from Garmish? Would it be suitable for 10-13yr olds?
@NearFromHome Жыл бұрын
I would say this would be fine for a 10-13 year old. It takes about an hour. There is a very steep ascent at the very end, so I really recommend renting an ebike. We have a video about Eibsee that really dives into the details. You should check it out!
