@Trulytrollin The Ho229 had a conventional retractable undercarriage, early models of the Ar234 used a detachable undercarriage for takeoff and skids for landing, later models had retractable landing gear, the Me 163 always used detachable wheels and a landing skid

@bloobear1: no bias. Keep in mind that the 262 was not as manoeuvrable as conventional fighters. This made it vulnerable in turns, something allied pilots quickly picked-up on. But it was most vulnerable when taking off or landing where its slow acceleration made it an easy target and it required concrete runways, so allied fighters could spot 262 bases from the air and then wait in ambush. The 163 shot down 9 allied planes at the cost of 14 German pilots when it blew up on landing...

The key word is operational. For example the Natter made only one powered flight, at which the pilot was killed.

@genericboy888 I may be wrong, but turbine and jet engine are basically the same thing...expect that you can have a propellers on a turbine and not a jet...correct me if I am wrong

You can fly this plane on the game il-2 birds of prey :) the propeller is to mess the wind speed

Most Me262's that entered service were shot down. They accelerated too slwoly and were vulnerable at lower speeds. The Me163 was deadly... for its pilots. Most 163's exploded during landing. This plane killed far more Germans than allies.The Ar234 was a good plane, but it was a hopeless bomber because it could not carry a sufficient load. In fact, the Arado was better as a photo-reconaissance plane than as a bomber, maybe the best of the war. Both prototype of the Horten IX crashed...

@genericboy888 How does what fly? there were more than one aircraft shown here. Im not sure if the Horton IX is the exact same thing as the Horton 229.....I think the one is just a different name for the same craft.... if so then it had a turbine engine, as I know that the 229 did. Now the other aircraft had different jets (as far as I know), and the ME 163 was actually rocket powered.

This video lists a top speed of 287MPH for the B 17. It should be noted that the B17 CRUISED, bombs and fuel full, at 130 to 150MPH and on egress (going home) with no bombs and half fuel at barely 200MPH

ehm the me 262 flew with the jumo 004, not with the jumo 210, cause the 210 is a prop-engine ;-)

The technology the Germans had considering this was in the 40's is bloody scary.

With the knowledge they had (by successfully creating and testing these weapons) if europe fell, they would have had the resources and time to possibly win the war. "Resources" and "Time" was all they needed. They would indeed have this if USA, Canada were to prepare and launch attacks all the way from North America (being the only remaining allies).
@crxdelsolsir15 жыл бұрын
The point of this video is to illustrate some of the superior technology of germany during the time of ww2 and to show they had what it takes to turn the tide of war. I am not German and see it as in no way supporting the nazi cause. It does however highlight how close the allies were in losing europe (and without saying England if that was the case).

@MrBat01 How about the pain and suffering the germans went through post world war 2 and the cold war, especially east germany. Yes they did cause pain to people before, like the jewish people, russians, etc.

right. Children here even raise without any pride and self esteem. I hear alot of people who rather want to be american or ANYTHING but NOT german due to the propaganda and its echos. They don't even recognise that it gets against them and that it are plump lies. We can be proud. Its even a shame that people, like you - have to say "I am no nazi" just to make sure they don't get spamed with ignorance. Greetings to france, brother.

Most of these fantastic machines came too late to be of any use in changin the course of the war. Germany was doomed from moment it decide to invade the Soviet Union. The USSR ended up being much more and tougher to swallow than Hitler had ever thought . Still, the German Military and the German Soldier deserved a salute for their bravery and quality in combat. If it was not for the imense industrial power of the USA and the combine Allied human resorces ( troops) Germany might have won.

the gloster meteor was nice, but nothing against the jets of nazi-germany. (Me 163 was shit, too) but if u have one good plane, and the enemy 1000 bad ones, u wont have many chances. that was the problem of the germans.
