What blows mind is that still to this day you can see the hate against the Germans on TV such as the history channel. What none of those channels tells you is the fact that nations such as Russia, USA, and even the UK were profiting from German Engineering and technology. First man on the moon, thank a German for it. Aeronautics, jets and more, thank the Germans, you know you copied thrm all. The first computer, yes the Germans, some people in England may not agree but oh well. I am asking why the hate, the answer is envy. Yes the NS did terrible things never to be forgotten, but NS were a small minority holding a nation innl fear

Hardly one week after the attack on Peenemünde, the Germans started production in the Nordhausen Caves! I have been inside those some years ago, though the Russians later tried to blow up the entrances, so a new tunnel had to be drilled to get access to the former Rocket and V1 factory! You may still find rusty production parts inside, as also caves large enough to have standing rockets for final testing! Outside was an enormous railroad station, clearly visible from the air, so the Allies knew it was there, and to be reached before the Russians took over the area and remnants and leftover scientist of lesser value. Close by is a Crematorium with two ovens, to dispose of unfortunate workers, no longer able to be of any value.

Just Imagine if germany Had atomic bomb earlier than the Americans only 1 or 2 months before the war ends ,A bright flash, brighter than a thousand suns, over the Oderbruch. Thousands of Russian soldiers and dozen of T-34 tanks burn up in the hypocenter of the terrible explosion. The pressure wave knocks down trees kilometers away and covers roofs. This is the eighth tactical atomic bomb that Hitler uses. In the west the British and American armies have already been bombed back behind the Rhine. In the summer of 1945 the Western Allies finally hit back. A plutonium bomb is dropped over Magdeburg. Gradually, Germany, which was already destroyed by the Allied aerial warfare, is beginning to completely drown in radioactive fallout and gamma radiation and some months later , japanese I-400 u-boats attacking togheter with Germany and it's XX1 u-boats the American coastlines(they even Had Plans how to destroy new York with V2 rockets ,the u-boats Had Containers for it) i would think that's the way how the Axis Power could win the War

Thank you for this unique clip. I can understand a lot of the 'hoch Deutsch' spoken by the narrator, which gives a lot of the history. The personal interviews are just so valuable and again unique, I'm glad their memories are preserved for the future. Their dialects are harder to understand, especially Karl-Georg Hopfengartner at the 6:18 mark - I assume he has a strong dialect, I can't quite follow along, but I hope it is available in English some day. Cheers.

He says where there was space we put them. I mean, where we slept they were inside. There was no room, you had to look where you could find a corner. Some slept in the back of the toilet, it didn't matter. But it was all right. Even as a German it was quite hard to understand 😂

@8sec: "no civilian people [to] go aboard a u-boat" - cannot find this quote. where and when! was it said? got a link?
@65SATisfaction4 жыл бұрын
It's spoken in German, by the narrator, at the 5:47 mark and in the following crew interviews to the 7:10 mark. If I understand the language correctly, the Captain of U-3505 decided to take civilian evacuees to safety from the approaching Russians (at Danzig?). This was in violation of official Kriegsmarine policy. It appears a whole number of KM vessels did the same. The Crew was fully behind the Capt's decision and since the Uboat wasn't carrying any torpedoes yet, there was room for quite a number of evacuees, especially children. I think they disembarked in Bremenhafen, and although it was obvious what the Capt and crew had done, there were no consequences.
