U absolutely nailed it. When I saw the smug look on gerrits face as he waived four fingers. … at that moment I knew the game was over. I swear I said outloud. It might ruin his remaining starts. If not more…I am not being hyperbolic guys. He is the laughing stock of MLB today. He cannot handle that nor can my softly managed Yankees. Michael Kay was so pissed. Paul didn’t get it. Kay did. One more thing guys… from the white sox walk off to the yanks getting a couple too…why are they ripping clothes off and jumping around like they … ugh just hate it. I mean it’s kinda hard to figure a guy out when he’s averaging a .350 batting average against you. It’ll make you think that none of your pitches have effect but I do agree that he shouldn’t had hit Devers intentionally. If he hits it, he hits it. Part of your job as a pitcher is to force weak contact upon the hitters at the end of the day

It's possible he just wasn't feeling like himself on this day, and Devers was a challenge he wasn't in the mind set to tackle. Most likely intentional? I think it's exactly what you said...just a knowingly reckless pitch, targeted to jam but if it hits him...meh. But hey...that's baseball baby.
