A good friend of mine (who passed away years ago) told me about Gerry Woo and how great his music was. I don't think he had his album, and I never could find his music either. He saw him on TV I think. Sometimes I might ask someone if they had heard of him but nobody did. This is the first time I hear his music and seen the video. My friend was right! He's great! He should've been a star and go on tours and his songs more airplay!

The first time I heard this kid back in the late 80's, I heard the music/voice on the radio before I even saw who he was. I liked the songs very much and thought "who is this guy?" When I finally saw him, I thought "No way" this is an Asian guy with that VOICE! He had the most incredible voice I'd even heard coming from an Asian. He should have been a mega success. I often wondered what ever happened to him.

@@afflulifestyle1784 Thanks foe this info. There was a trio hip hop group called Mountain Brothers who were signed to Tommy Boy who met a similar fate. Except one of the members is doing much better than Gerry (he has worked with Nicky Minaj, Kanye West etc. as a producer). This kind of thing was and still is common for Asian American artists. International acts especially kpop is popular among audiences here, but American born artist of Asian descent always had a hard time historically regardless of their talents. To be fair, I don’t think the music industry is about pure talent anyways many times regardless of ethnic background. I don’t think it takes a genius to see this lol

i agree. if gerry was Caucasian, he'd been huge. i don't think A&M records really promoted gerry like they said they would. A&M had a contract with STAR SEARCH to cut a record with the winner of the show for that season. an asian guy with a soulful voice was way ahead of it's time. plus, there's still a ton of bigotry and racism in the music industry to this day. but, i still agree with you, though...gerry woo should be on his 8th album by now and sipping Italian champagne by the pool.
