@@n1114v To be fair, you had to know it would be a problem. Filming something like that is not as easy as it seems, which is why professionals usually do it. Perhaps better to re-shoot with someone more experienced handling the camera and upload newer footage. Awesome plane, seriously! Some people are just frustrated because they really want to see it fly.

Beautiful flight. My father's favorite plane. He worked for Lockheed, Burbank before the war on P-38s. I read a story on them that the RAF bought some, didn't want the counter rotating props. With the same rotation props it became a hand full. USAAF took them back, installed the counter rotation engines and props and put them into combat.

Gorgeous plane, my favorite WWII fighter. Any reason you made the counter rotation opposite of the full scale plane? My guess is that it gives you a critical engine advantage if you have an engine out situation to make it more controllable. Flies very well and it is beautiful in the air as well as on the ground. Congrats on those initial flights, hope it's still doing well 7 years later.

Not really a good example of how to start ic engines without a glove, especially for younger viewers.
@n1114v6 жыл бұрын
urbanfox53........ in the 27 years of starting model airplane engines I have never had a serious incident where a glove would have helped. A glove will help prevent a prop from cutting but will not prevent a prop from breaking your finger in the case of a backfire. I never wrap my fingers around the back of the prop, only applying pressure to the front of the blade so if there ever was a backfire it would simply slip out of my hands there for no injuries
@beyondxtream40566 жыл бұрын
Uhhhhh if you really know how to work with and start gas-engines, then you know you don;t need gloves. I handstart my GP176 , Saito FG90R3, DLE120, DA50 without gloves. As Andrew states. . it's the way you position your fingers on the blade and in which circular motion you move your hand out of the way, while prop-starting. That is what you need "younger viewers" to learn and be aware off, about starting gas-engines.
@joeshmoe123012306 жыл бұрын
It made me nervous watching him stick his hand in to activate the choke with the ignition on. If the magnet lines up with the Hall sensor it can cause it to turn over and smack the hell out of your hand. I had my hand hit once by a 24" prop on a 60cc engine because of this. I've never operate a choke with the ignition on since. Some lessons are harder learned than others.
